harvard ventures tech summer program
so i recently found this program that is being conducted by harvard this summer. it seems great and all - you match up with startups and do real world stuff, but it also costs $4750. are programs like these legit and actually useful (not in terms of college apps - but will you actually learn something and be apart of a startup??) thanks. link: https://tech.seas.harvard.edu/summer
Freshman Classes Questions
Hey guys, so I am a rising Freshman and I'm going to be taking some pretty difficult classes. For background, my school provides a very selective double accelerated STEM program (class size of about 25/400 ish) and since I am in it, I take classes that are 2 grade levels above me. Meaning the core classes that I am taking are Algebra 2H, AP Physics 1, AP HuG, Pre-AP World History (It is split into 2 years), and AP Comp Sci (Those are the main ones). I have a couple questions for some of these classes that I wish you guys can answer! 1. How hard is AP Physics 1, and how can I ensure that throughout the year that I maintain extremely high grades (95+) and ensure a 5 on the AP exam. This is the one class I am actually concerned about due to my older friends telling me stories on how hard the class is (as a freshman) and that the teacher can also suck too. 2. I've read that AP Comp Sci is an easy class to take as a freshman, is that true? People have said that they have gotten consistent 100s across the year and an easy 5 on the AP exam. 3. According to my older friends AND my previous math teacher, the Algebra 2H teacher absolutely sucks (at teaching and in general). How can I deal with that and still maintain 95+? 4. Should I prepare for AP Physics 1 during the summer/now? 5. For which of these classes should I be taking genuine notes? I have never taken notes before as my previous classes have been easier for me. Or should I even take notes? 6. What are some study tips you recommend for these classes? I have never geniunely studied as most tests were easy for me because I easily remembered the information. 7. When should I start AP prep? (no ap test for Pre-AP World) That's my list of questions! If you answered them then I would be extremely grateful! Thank you!!!!

@Nirvair Singh correct me if im wrong but you mean csa right? either way csa is somewhat challenging course if you don't have any prior programming knowledge in any language. overall it isn't impossible, i did it online and got a 5 on the late exam (which usually have worser curves i believe?) but i also knew python beforehand. just make sure you do enough practice for stuff like 2d arrays and inheritance because sometimes you can forget the syntax on the frqs and it won't be too bad.

@Nirvair Singh yeah then csa should be a breeze for you
questions about engineering research
hello all, so i have some questions about what qualifies as "research". i saw this dude who got into STS top 30 by making some machine learning glasses that can identify objects and relay them to the visually impaired. it's similar to a topic idea i have but more on that later. so basically my question is that is "engineering research" weighted equally as "scientific research"? you're basically building something to solve a problem but you're not exactly "pushing the boundaries" of science. could you write a paper on "engineering research" if all you're doing is just solving a solution to a problem? anyway this isn't my final idea just some thoughts in my head but i was thinking about making some model that can track and identify objects that someone with MCI or mild dementia could use to find stuff. i read a few articles about how they can misplace things in odd areas due to cognitive impairment but yeah. if you guys have any feedback please let me know im open toward any opinions. thanks for reading and yeah.
