hello all,
so i have some questions about what qualifies as "research". i saw this dude who got into STS top 30 by making some machine learning glasses that can identify objects and relay them to the visually impaired. it's similar to a topic idea i have but more on that later.
so basically my question is that is "engineering research" weighted equally as "scientific research"? you're basically building something to solve a problem but you're not exactly "pushing the boundaries" of science. could you write a paper on "engineering research" if all you're doing is just solving a solution to a problem?
anyway this isn't my final idea just some thoughts in my head but i was thinking about making some model that can track and identify objects that someone with MCI or mild dementia could use to find stuff. i read a few articles about how they can misplace things in odd areas due to cognitive impairment but yeah. if you guys have any feedback please let me know im open toward any opinions.
thanks for reading and yeah.
