Hi everyone! <3 My name is Rio. I am 24 years old, half Japanese and half Dutch, born and raised and living in Amsterdam. I loved the previous community - the support from other women and the opportunity to learn together were amazing. So I'm happy the place reopened again! I’ve been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and PCOS. Right now, I barely experience any colitis symptoms since I’m on medication. Even though my doctor says I’ll need it for the rest of my life, I believe I will live without it eventually. As for my menstrual cycle, it’s still very irregular and currently extremely long (writing this on day 53 with no sign of ovulation yet). My goal is to find the true root cause of both the inflammatory bowel disease and the PCOS, so I can restore my cycle and ovulate regularly again. The things that spark my joy are: cooking (especially healthy baking), singing, playing piano and guitar, and reading (I have been super interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine books lately). I also love weight lifting, and I've started Bachata classes recently, which makes me feel so feminine and so alive!!
Dealing with insulin resistance?
Hey loves, I'm curious, how many of you have dealt with or are currently dealing with insulin resistance or maybe have dealt in the past? If yes: What symptoms showed up for you? What actually worked to improve it? What didn't work (so we can skip the BS)? I'm gathering real experiences from real women because honestly, the textbook advice doesn't always match what actually happens in our bodies... Drop your story below. Let's learn from each other. What signs are you experiencing with insulin resistance? I have PCOS and have been taking inositol as it's one of the most effective supplements for insulin resistance. However, I actually am not sure if I am dealing with insulin resistance. I am pretty lean and have no problem with losing fat either if I intend to. But maybe I am not experiencing insulin resistance symptoms because I have been taking inositol for a while, I eat clean & balanced meals that are blood-sugar friendly and lift weights.
