JOMO instead of FOMO
Please share a story of how you turned your FOMO into JOMO! You might inspire the rest of us, too! In case you're wondering: FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out, and JOMO: Joy Of Missing Out

When my sons would attend their kungfu/sport classes all the mums would get together and chat during it. One day I decided to sit in the car and read my favourite book. It was hard at first and I felt very anti social, but it got easier and I loved looking forward to the odd snips of time on my own. Then as they got older I would drop them off and go get a coffee etc. balanced between also watching them. I was homeschooling and I needed to find time for myself and recharge.

@Cristina Tudor I love that you did that too. I just realised from your story I still do it. At work they eat together or on the run but I used to go to my car and drive down the street /park and eat mine in silence. I was a receptionist so I am outgoing, but I needed my down time. We have to honour our need for restoration and refreshing.
Hello new friends
Hi everyone. I live in Akld New Zealand. I’m married and mum of 4. Two adult daughters married and Nonnie to 3 soon to be 4 granddaughters. 2 boys 18 and 20yrs at home . Im in a transition period where I just left my job at church which I loved, to support my eldest son with autism and both boys as they begin studying online. I homeschooled my boys for 14 years .I love gardening and we are self employed. Soon to be undergoing major house renovations. I’ve been decluttering on and off over the years and found Connie through the simplicity slower living searches. Wanting to find some balance and make space for quietness in my days. Looking forward to this community. 💐

@Jeni Simpson how cool. We were in Queenstown for a few years a couple of years ago. Not a day goes by that we don’t wish we were back there🥰 slower, quieter pace. Sadly Akld called us back for work

Tiny Step🪴 Jan 9, 2026
Each Friday in this group, I’ll be sharing one simple “Tiny Step” you can take toward a little more peace and clarity, using small, doable actions. This is our first Tiny Step together. Today’s Tiny Step: Clean out your purse or everyday bag 👜 Take everything out, wipe the inside, and only put back what you truly use. Our bags can hold a lot, not just items, but clutter, stress, and forgotten things. After you’ve done this, notice how it feels the next time you reach for it. Does anything feel lighter, calmer, or easier? If you do this step, comment “done” or share what you noticed. I’d love to hear how this feels for you, and we’ll check in again next week.

@Celeste Elash same. I feel like my car has become my purse. I only carry my phone and cards into shops and everything else is in my car. But in saying that maybe it’s time to declutter handbags I never use?
Sleep Problems
Good Morning Ladies! I was wondering...does anyone else get up at the crack of 3:00 a.m post menopause? For the last few years my wake up cycles have went bonkers! I've tried everything imaginable, prescription, natural, but still can't sleep past 4:00 a.m. The only good thing about it is that I'm in the gym before it gets too crazy.

I feel for you. Sleep has been harder for me this past year. I’m guessing you’ve checked it’s not an external thing like noise, temp drop etc? I’m sure I read that it’s something to do with your liver or spikes insulin/cortisol increasing at that time. Have you tried doing a liver detox. Also they say to have something like cheese before bed for those spikes. Do you take progesterone?
