Terrified of the Camera
I was terrified with the very thought of creating videos. @Sheena LC Walker and @Sandi Boucher graciously offered me 1-on-1 coaching to calm my fears and build confidence--they assigned homework and offered amazing critiques of my three samples. Today, I took the lessons shared and took a swing at the bonus materials in the folllowing video. https://youtu.be/-nXwZvQ_kbs Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Sandi and Sheena!😁

A Word of Warning ...
For those just beginning their speaking journey, for those attempting to build a business, a word of warning, taken from the pages of my first book. The Less Desirables ... (November 3rd entry from Honorary Indian Decolonized, available on Amazon.) We all know them; for they are many and they walk among us disguised as friends, co-workers, family members or partners. They are always there to remind us of what we have lost, what we can’t have or what we can’t do. Some advise us to be ‘realistic’ as a disguise for the venom they spew. Others are more blatant reminding us that we ‘screwed up’ ages ago and that our future is now the same as theirs -- bleak and dismal. They hate being alone, so they use their powers of persuasion to remind us that we are as lost and undesirable as they are. They hate to hear us discussing dreams or hopes and work quickly to destroy any ambition we have. ‘Come out and play’, they call. ‘Don’t bother working today, forget those silly dreams. Life is too short not to be enjoyed!’ they holler, and often … we listen. We trade long term happiness and fulfillment for short term satisfaction. Deep down we fear that we may never actually reach our goals, so we give in to the temptation they offer, and therefore make their premonitions come true. They are, and always will be, the ‘less desirables’, people and entities that I no longer have time for. I choose friends and partners carefully, no negativity allowed in my world, for my dreams are as sacred and as fragile as my children, and just as worthy of protection and nurturing. I spend my time with those who empower me, those who make me laugh, those who help me love every single day of my life … or I spend it alone, working on my dreams, watching as with each step my dreams become reality. I have many ‘less desirables’ in my past and their words used to haunt me, even after their existence was wiped from my life, but now I have eliminated their words as well. Their words were wrong when first spoken and continue to be just as inaccurate today. They deserve no time in my world, for they do not serve me and I will not give them that power. One day I will have the ultimate revenge … success, and I will smile as I stand in the stage light knowing full well, proving once and for all, that the less desirables didn’t know me at ALL!

MY INTRO
Hey Team, I'm honored to be a part of Inspiring Speakers forum. On the personal front, I live in a log cabin in the foothills of Northern Colorado overlooking the beautiful Carter Lake. Earlier this year, I published a book entitled, "The Alchemist's Way", so I am new to this whole author and speaker scene and am excited to learn from you all! What is an alchemist? Ancient alchemists mastered the craft of creating gold from ordinary materials. Today's alchemists achieve the extraordinary by unlocking the potential of themselves and others revealing the gold that is already within. Outside of work, I'm a proud father (single Dad to a 23-year old daughter--also an engineer), loyal friend, technology leader by day, author and mountain man by night. I have a passion for cooking and grilling, lover of black coffee, enthusiast of wine, aficionado of the dirty martini, slayer of the classical guitar, inventor, innovator, a penchent for laughter, a closet bibliophile (it's a book thing), and a stalwart fan of the Denver Broncos. Professionally, I have been leading engineering teams for over 38 years delivering over 100 innovations in products and services. I wrote the book to give to my 22-year old self. Since time travel isn't possible, today, I aspire to share those hard-earned lessons with tomorrow's leaders through the pages of "The Alchemist's Way."—a framework designed to empower leaders at any stage, taking you from uncertainty to mastery, helping you find your rhythm amidst the noise & discover your own capacity to unlock the gold in you. My speaking expertise and web presence is fairly new and evolving: *Video Trailer (72 seconds): https://youtu.be/iut-zgxnpj8 *Book website: https://thealchemistswaybook.com/ *Speaker/Author Website (being revamped): https://paul-boerger.com/ *LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-boerger/

100 Reps FAST!
Okay who is gonna try this with me? This is what I just received in an email. It said "to boost productivity" but I think it is a GREAT tool to: - Learn about your audience - Get over the fear of speaking on camera - Build an audience - Build relationship with viewers - And on and on! So this is what the email said: Adopt the “100 reps fast” rule to get good quickly: pick one primary channel (YouTube Shorts, newsletter, or podcast) and commit to 100 consecutive publishes as fast as your life allows (daily if possible, otherwise 3×/week). Keep a living checklist (hook, promise, proof, CTA), use AI to beat blank page syndrome, and reserve your human time for voice, stories, and examples. At rep 25/50/75, pause for a data review and prune anything that isn’t moving opens, watch time, or replies. I did up a spreadsheet so I can track: - Hook, promise, and proof in each video - Number of video and date I will do it - Opens, watch time and replies. Also, I am an over-achiever so I will be shooting and releasing the same video on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram cuz why not! lol. (I expanded my spreadsheet to capture that lol) I already have the topics for the next THREE videos and I am starting TODAY! Also, 100 days from now takes us to December 16th which is EPIC information to have on your viewers/followers going into the new year! So whose with me? I have attached my spreadsheet (without my ideas already in it). Feel free to use it!

Admittedly, I'm a bit terrified of the camera thing. QUESTION: What software do you use to record your video and screen capture for YouTube presentations?
