This morning ... a hard truth.
So this morning's thoughts are a bit of tough love in that I have a question for you ... How much money are you making from your speaking business? NOW, before you come at me, that isn't a question I would ever ask you BUT it IS a question YOU should be asking yourself. Because if you are not making any money, you are not in business. Training is great. Do it WHILE you are making money. Planning and running ads is great. Do that WHILE you are making money. And to make money, you have to have something to sell - a well-packaged keynote, a book, a subscription to your weekly newsletter that is going to help them achieve whatever it is you are selling. Likes, subscribers, followers - none of that means anything if you are not also making money. And free gigs are great practice but again .... doesn't mean you are in business. I was lucky when I started. There used to be a funding program that supported entrepreneurs for one year. Not to go into boring details (as it doesn't exist anymore), but I received about $1400 a month from that program. My rent was $1800. Not to mention car payment, insurance, and crazy things like food. And honestly, I think that reality is what made me successful. Failing WASN'T an option because failing meant starving (or living in my car and writing a book about living in my car, but i digress ...). So, get busy SELLING. And if that idea scares you, that is PROOF you need to do it. Because learning to sell will be key to your success. Don't hire someone to do it for you (that comes later). Do it now. You have value. What you have to offer has value. So start selling so you can truly stand tall and say YOU are in business. I can't wait to see you shine! (Not sure what to do next? I am always just an email away.) I love ya! Sandi
