Maison Margiela: Anguish and Awe (Update)
Hey good people, I received the bottle today. After a couple of sprays: very nice, a leather and green rose bomb. It has amazing projection, and I’m 100% sure this thing will last forever. It opens with a bold leather reminiscent of Tuscan Leather, but quickly reveals a green, slightly metallic undertone that recalls Fahrenheit (first impressions). I’m about 20 minutes in right now, and I’ll post an update once I get the full drydown. Honestly, it’s very nice, like if Tuscan Leather and Fahrenheit had a baby. Today I’m wearing Red Fever, and I accidentally layered both fragrances… and wow, it’s amazing! This might actually be how I end up wearing it. Red Fever brightens the green notes of Anguish and Awe and makes the whole thing smoother and more rounded. I’m loving it!!

Quick Update Post Surgery.
Went to the doctor's office. He pulled out the Stents, and I was worried, as with no fragrance on and, of course, new antibiotics to go in topically, I could breathe but no smell. I had to stop at a tire factory to pay for Automobile tires, a large warehouse, and as I went into Will Call to pay all, I could smell the odor of brand new automobile Rubber tires. So, although it will heal, I am pretty sure that it hasn't affected my sense of smell!!! 2 days out and I must say it feels nice with no obstructions other than crud LOL

Hey guys, Joe A. here with another one for ya'! Fellas, I’ll be honest, after all this time in the fragrance hobby, reviewing, collecting, decanting, talking scents almost daily… I STILL butcher fragrance names. And I know I’m not alone here. Take Joop! for example. Is it like “loop” with a “y” in front? Is it “yope” with that smooth European confidence? Or is it just me out here sounding like a backwoods sommelier saying “Joe-pp!” like I’m calling a dog in for dinner? This hobby will humble you REAL quick. One minute you’re feeling sophisticated discussing niche perfumery… next minute you realize you’ve been mispronouncing a house name for years while confidently recommending it to people. Nothing hits quite like hearing a perfumer interview or walking into a boutique and suddenly realizing, "oh no… I’ve been saying that completely wrong." And honestly? It’s part of the fun. Fragrance is global. French, Italian, Arabic, Spanish, German, these scents come from everywhere, and sometimes our Midwest, Southern, New York, or “Joe Average” accents just do their best to survive the journey. At the end of the day, loving the scent matters more than sounding like you trained in Paris. Ha, I still run into names today where I pause before saying them out loud hoping nobody asks me to repeat it! What say you, guys? What fragrance name have YOU completely butchered before? Which one shocked you the most when you finally heard the correct pronunciation? And let's be honest… what name are you still secretly unsure about right now? Love to hear from ya’!

Yeah, there’s a lot of French in the fragrance world, luckily for me, I live in Quebec.

Continuing to discover and test ATH fragrances. The initial opening is a very fruity and sweet with some citrus undertones. At 15 minutes I pick up a more complex fruity sweetness. At 30 minutes the complexity of the fruit scent has settled down, and I am getting a very nice citrus/fruity scent profile. At 60 minutes, on my skin the fragrance is still coming off sweet, but the citrus has definitely dissipated. I am also starting to get some of the Nutmeg. The dry down of this fragrance is a citrus, fruity, and woody (Sandalwood) scent that has some undertones of a creamy Vanilla/Tonka scent. Performance: Off my skin, the projection of this fragrance is great with it creating a scent bubble of about 3 feet for about 2.5 hours. The sillage is also great with a scent trail of 3+ feet for 2+ hours. Longevity on my skin is between 7 to 8 hours with the fragrance becoming a skin scent after about 4 hours. This fragrance is definitely FBW.
