I don't know about the military in US, but I myself was in military for 1 year as special jaeger in Finland. And in my opinion there are pros and cons, but cons are way more then pros. So if you don't have nothing going on with your life and you just want to spent some time learning new stuff, getting new experience and looking to feel the hardship. Then I would recommend military. But in my situation I lost all of my clients on my business when I went there, because I never had time to work with them or manage them. In summary military is waste of time if you're looking to do something with your life. But if you don't have nothing going on then it's better, because you will get new experience.
