I’d like to introduce someone who will be helping support our wonderful community.
Meet Elena Thompson 👋 @Elena Thompson Like many of us, Elena has been living with tinnitus for many years. She went through her own tinnitus relief journey, with many of the bumps we all are going/went through. After speaking with her a few times, I can comfortably say she understands both the emotional and practical sides of this journey. Elena agreed to help me keep this space organized and supportive so that everyone here can get the most value possible. 🤗 Please join me in welcoming her. 💙🙏 Warm regards, Guy.

Welcome Elena.
Why Tinnitus Makes Conversations in Noise So Hard - Here’s Why (and What To Do)
If you have tinnitus and you struggle to follow conversations in noisy or busy places, you’re not alone. This is true even if your hearing test shows no hearing loss. But if you also have hearing loss or use hearing aids, this challenge is usually even stronger. For years, I thought the problem was just my ears. What I eventually learned, and what I explain in this new video, is that speech in noise is a brain skill, not just a volume problem. Hearing aids can help, absolutely. But the missing piece for me, and for many people I work with, was auditory training. Once I started training my brain to separate speech from background noise, things slowly began to change. Conversations became easier. Social situations became less exhausting. And my tinnitus stopped dominating every noisy moment. I just published a video that breaks this down clearly and shows free, practical tools you can start using today if: - You have tinnitus and noisy places feel overwhelming - You miss words or lose the thread of conversations - You feel mentally exhausted after social situations - You have tinnitus with or without hearing loss Quick personal note: From severe tinnitus hell to living normally again. I used to be stuck with severe hearing loss and tinnitus that was ruining my life. I lost my focus, productivity, social life, patience, calm, and sleep. I was at a breaking point and honestly felt like I was losing my sanity. What changed everything wasn’t silence. It was learning how to stop my brain from treating sound as a threat. The road to habituation. That process helped me habituate my tinnitus about 90% of the time and get my focus, calm, and productivity back. If you want help figuring out what might actually move the needle for you, comment YES and I’ll send you the details. 👉 Hearing Success website: https://hearingsuccess.com/

When in office, trying to place myself to receive optimal background noise. Sometimes it is close to the center of the area. I use an open back headphones to reduce the pressure on ear. Last Friday I was on a meeting and things were optimal. Then suddenly the colleagues from my both flanks started talking. They were not loud, but their speech was stealing my attention nevertheless. I was trying to focus on my meeting for half an hour and it become exhausting to endure. What I realized was that my hyperacusis returned that evening and it took me almost 2 days to stabilize it to previous level.
How are you (currently) coping with your tinnitus?

All options mentioned apply to me. I am also trying to place myself in the right environment: when in office - trying to choose a seating area with optimal background sound exposure. In addition, trying to quit cigarettes - they say that this could help a little bit too.

@Guy Cohen Actually, I think I'm struggling a quarter of time. But trying to remain positive anyway :).
Not doing well
I am currently taking sleeping pills. (Lorazepam ) but I am under the impression my symptoms have worsened. Without, I don’t sleep at all. I am going to explore Quiviviq. Does anyone have experience with this? They can be used long term and don’t have the addiction problems that benzo’ s have. Please be kind. Just trying to survive.

Hi Chris. Have you tried with melatonin? I had good results with it. In addition, don't fight your T before sleep. Maybe you could try to temporarily "surrender". It activates parasympathicus. This song made it easier for me to "surrender": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NHZig3Fqc6I&pp=ygUXc3VycmVuZGVyIHRlcmVuY2UgdHJlbnQ%3D

Many thanks for this Guy. 🙂 This app seems to have some free resources that are quite expensive when acquired via Oto.
