Tinnitus: Coping vs Control vs Habituation | Which Actually Works?
In this community event, we covered two important tinnitus recovery topics and a couple of personal/community updates. First, we talked about the difference between coping, control, and habituation — and why coping tools can be helpful in the moment, but are not the same as long-term habituation. We also discussed the difference between helpful control, which focuses on your response, and unhelpful control, which often turns into monitoring, checking, and trying to force tinnitus to change. Then we talked about tinnitus fluctuations — why tinnitus can feel better for a while and then suddenly become more noticeable again, why this is often part of the habituation process, and how to respond when the sound changes without falling back into fear, checking, or frustration. I also shared a personal update about why June has been a little slower for content and community activity, and I introduced a new tool I’m building for the community: a more personalized AI-based tinnitus support tool trained on my tinnitus content, frameworks, and coaching approach. Real Tinnitus Conversations: Medications, Sleep, and How to Stop Monitoring the Sound (May 30)
Hey everyone 👋 This call happened on May 30th and it took me almost a week to get it out to you. 🤦‍♂️ Life got in the way. Sorry about that. 🙏 The good news is it's here now, and it was a really good one. No script. No slides. Just a real, unfiltered conversation with members of my tinnitus community — people living with this every day, sharing what's actually working, what isn't, and what they wish they'd known sooner. This one went deep. We talked about how to approach medication decisions (including some newer sleep medications worth knowing about), what to do emotionally after a medication makes things worse, and the monitoring habit — that constant checking on the sound — and how to actually break it. Real people. Real struggles. Real insight. If you've ever made a medication decision without enough information, or found yourself unable to stop listening for the tinnitus — this conversation is for you. Thank you @Jim Briggs, @Mike Morton, @Brian Johnson, @Patricia Reid, @Bill Chen, @Tammy Artman and others that joined or watched us live! Yours truly, (your tinnitus) Guy.

If tinnitus is affecting your focus and productivity at work, this video is for you.
If you’re a business owner, leader, manager, or professional who still has to show up, make decisions, lead meetings, communicate clearly, and perform at a high level, even while tinnitus is active. This is one of the hardest parts of tinnitus that people don’t always see. From the outside, you may look like you’re functioning. But inside, it can feel like you’re working twice as hard just to stay focused. When I was dealing with this as a professional and leader, I had to figure out how to keep functioning while my nervous system was on edge, my sleep was affected, and tinnitus kept pulling my attention away from what mattered. This video shares the kind of practical system that helped me move through that stage, not by waiting for perfect silence, but by learning how to reset, return to priorities faster, protect recovery, and keep performing while working toward long-term relief. If tinnitus is affecting your focus, productivity, sleep, or ability to lead, I really hope this helps. After you watch it, I’d love your feedback (comment below), and please also share what helps you get back on track when tinnitus affects your work, focus, or ability to lead. 🤔 Let’s help each other keep moving forward, even while tinnitus is still part of the picture.

The Tinnitus Relief Trap That Keeps People Stuck 😟
Some days ago I shared a post called “You Don’t Need to Solve Everything at Once.” That post was about one of the biggest traps I see with tinnitus sufferers, trying to fix everything at the same time. Sleep. Stress. Sound therapy. Supplements. Spikes. Focus. Anxiety. Triggers. Habituation. And while the post was helpful, I actually think the video version explains it even better, especially why trying harder and doing more can sometimes keep your nervous system stuck in the exact state you are trying to escape. So if that post resonated with you, or if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by all the tinnitus advice, tools, and techniques out there, I think this video will be worth watching. 🗨️ I’d love your honest feedback too. After you watch it, come back here and tell me: What is the one thing that feels most important for you to focus on next? P.S. Also, keep an eye on the recent updates about coaching availability, both for the group program and one-on-one support. I’ll be sharing a few more updates later today, and some exciting things are starting to happen inside the community. 👀
