🤓I spent weeks interviewing my most successful cold email students to figure out what they’re hiding.
Here’s what I asked them (& how they’ve gotten 20%+ replies:) 1. How do you handle email accounts for deliverability? - I usually send 25 emails per day per email account. - Sometimes 15 emails per email account/day if I want to be extra careful. 2. How long should email sequences be? - Different industries respond differently, and you must adapt. - I learn what works for my ICP by split testing & getting feedback. 3. Do you include unsubscribe links? - No. - I use a PS note in the email. - It says "If this doesn’t resonate with you, just reply with ‘No thanks’." - This creates replies & higher deliverability. 4. Advice to struggling cold emailers? - Start with understanding your ICP. - Learn their struggles, their daily routines, and what they care about. - Then focus on getting feedback from negative responses. 5. What CTA do you use? - I keep CTAs soft and value-driven. - For example, "Could I send you a quick vid with how this could help?" - This gives people an easy way to show interest. 6. What subject lines work for you? - I’ve seen "Hi [First Name]" with lowercase letters work. - I’ve also seen success with the company name in the subject line. - For example, "Hi [First Name], [Company Name]". 7. Is being personalized important for your strategy? - Yes, not just with the subject line, but the entire email. - I make the keywords I use in the subject line and body of the email connect with ICP. - I use keywords they will understand. - If you email a tech guru, terms like "automation" & "scalability" might get interest. - For a coach, it might be "growth" or "strategy" instead. 8. An example of one of your successful campaigns? - One of them had a 21% reply rate. - This had 1 initial email and 4 follow-ups. - I make sure every email has a reason for the prospect to engage, whether it’s more info, a helpful tip, or a personalized video. - This campaign was highly targeted with around 800 to 2,000 leads.
