Make Me a Mixtape: A Playlist Collective
Let’s share some playlists! I know we already do this in some form or another across this board, but thought it might be fun to kind of centralize it. Here’s what I’m thinking, based on a group I used to run IRL. Once every three months, I’ll set up a thread calling for mix submissions. It’ll stay open for a month, and anyone that wants to drop a mix is free to do so. My promise to you is that I will listen to every mix, just please keep the lengths sensible since the point here is sharing. That’s the crux of it. So let’s start here. Drop a playlist you’ve made in the comments… could be your latest mix, could be your favourite mix, could be a custom mix for this project. You do you. There are no rules, apart from being kind to one another, which seems a baseline for this place anyway. In future maybe we pick custom themes for these or implement some kinda structure but let’s start it easy. P.S. If any of you wanna make or send me actual mixtapes I’ll take ‘em. DM me and I’ll happily shoot you an address.

@Shane McNeil No shame there, friend! I was also a fan. The only time I saw them live was the 1978 Texxas Jamm at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Their version of "Come Together" is good, but not as stellar a cover as the EWF song. I saw the movie when it came out and never again! 😂

Bandcamp Friday returns this Friday, March 6.
What's on your Bandcamp wishlist? Mine has: "Amaro" by Bibi Club, "Bust the Bus Stop" by Brooklyn Funk Essentials, "Goodbye Sticky Rice" by Lyrics Born, "Paradises" (pre-order) by Ladytron, "Chin Up Buttercup" by Austra, and "Boundary County" by Eilen Jewell (top of the list out of 33 others). All of these are for music I heard on KEXP, my favorite music discovery engine. ----- Just FYI, I'm tring to convince the Software Gurus at KEXP to add a link to Bandcamp in the app when you 'favorite' a track. For 24 hours, every purchase you make on Bandcamp sends even more money directly to the artists and labels you support. On select Fridays throughout the year, we waive our share of sales. This means fans can support artists more directly. It’s a great time to pick up that album you’ve had your eye on, explore something new, or revisit an old favorite.
Music in Seattle This Weekend 3/7/26
I'm very excited to see my favorite darkwave band from PDX 'Darkswoon' this Saturday at the Central Saloon, on the bill for June, Jupe record release. See you there? https://centralsaloon.com/events/jupe-jupe-record-release-darkswoon-hot-hail-dj-activate/
HBD, George ✌️
Each day just goes so fast I turn around, it’s past You don’t get time to hang a sign on me / George Harrison - Love To You I grew up in a house with Beatles music playing all the time. This had to have been the first introduction to this crazy awesome sound I would later learn was the sitar. Have any favorite sitar songs?

While this track doesn't feature his sitar work, check out this amazing stop motion animation directed by Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame): https://youtu.be/P0d_P11B6Tg

This has 'some' sitar and is a fun cover. Danielle Dax "Tomorrow Never Knows" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYYqv5YP5TI
when things feel heavy
When I'm doing the show and I play some mellow or sad music, I often get people checking in if I'm okay. The irony is, that is not what I go to when I'm feeling down. I go to the classics, the anchors, the seminal records that have kept me afloat all these years like The Joshua Tree, Earth Sun Moon, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Let Me Come Over, Cooper Blue and many many more. I'm curious, when things feel heavy, what kind of music do you reach for? Quiet? Loud? Familiar? Something new?

When I'm down, I will always reach for The Cocteau Twins, probably "Heaven or Las Vegas" or "Blue Bell Knoll". Liz Fraser's voice is like audio sunshine. Who can resist "Sugar hiccup on cheerios!" 😻
