TV On The Radio
Every once in while I get this overwhelming "why don't I listen to this band more?" feeling. I'm currently having this moment with TVOTR. They're awesome. Why don't I listen to them more? Any TVOTR fans out there? Please share your favorite songs?
Got a Friday song?
This morning on Early I heard Eva say she didn't have a Friday song but if she did it would be Loverboy "Working for the Weekend".. Got me thinking what my Friday song would be.. What would your's be?
Bandcamp Friday returns this Friday, March 6.
What's on your Bandcamp wishlist? Mine has: "Amaro" by Bibi Club, "Bust the Bus Stop" by Brooklyn Funk Essentials, "Goodbye Sticky Rice" by Lyrics Born, "Paradises" (pre-order) by Ladytron, "Chin Up Buttercup" by Austra, and "Boundary County" by Eilen Jewell (top of the list out of 33 others). All of these are for music I heard on KEXP, my favorite music discovery engine. ----- Just FYI, I'm tring to convince the Software Gurus at KEXP to add a link to Bandcamp in the app when you 'favorite' a track. For 24 hours, every purchase you make on Bandcamp sends even more money directly to the artists and labels you support. On select Fridays throughout the year, we waive our share of sales. This means fans can support artists more directly. It’s a great time to pick up that album you’ve had your eye on, explore something new, or revisit an old favorite.

This Fugazi release to support Letters Charity is awesome. If nothing else, take a few minutes to watch the Albini video. From their bandcamp: This is a digital-only release and the band is donating its share of the proceeds to Letters Charity. Please be generous. Thank you. Letters Charity is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use Art as a conduit to transform passive compassion into immediate assistance through the distribution of money given, without expectation or judgment, directly to families experiencing poverty.
Daily Music Diary Mix
So one thing I’ve gotten into over the last few years is making a song-a-day mix. I got the idea from ex-MTV host Dave Holmes, and all you do is pick one song each day… something you hear, something you think of, something tied to an event/news item/personal milestone, etc. and you just keep building over 365. At the end of each year (or each month, even) not only do you have a sweet - and often very random! - mix but afterwards you can look back on it and re-live the time… be it “oh yeah, that’s the day I watched ____” or “I was out at my local and this song just hit the moment perfectly!” Just sharing in case anyone here wants to give it a go moving forward! Or maybe you do it too? If anyone is interested, here’s how my year started (and, yes, thank you @John Richards for more than a couple of these!) https://music.apple.com/ca/playlist/01-january-2026/pl.u-b3b84WNUbAvLP https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6LhKcbjOy0CkY4mJFazeCT

@Shane McNeil oh!
First Show
I've considered doing a Morning Show about this but I only have 3 hours. It would take me 3 months. So mine was 16 years old, Jane's Addiction with Mary's Danish opening at Eastern Washington University. I remember walking in to "Coming Down the Mountain" and seeing bodies flying in the air, everyone wearing black, just absolute MAYHEM and all I wanted to do was more of this! I stayed out the pit that day and just stood there in awe to be seeing and hearing the music from a band I loved. I was HOOKED. I think they played 30 minutes because Perry was a mess but I didn't know any better and in fact was shocked when I saw a band play longer! Also first show in Seattle? Pixies. Moore Theater.

1986. Just after my 13th birthday. The Bangles and Mr Mister at Poplar Creek Music Theater outside of Chicago. I went with a church group, which was weird. But I was blown away by the power and magic of live music. ✌️

@Dawn Nita I saw that tour! It was the first show that I went to with my then girlfriend [now wife]. We were 16. And happy to report that we are still seeing shows together to this day. The power of music. ✌️
