@Nick Milla when you’re on top position you can maintain chest to chest connection while applying pressure. Even from then side position, you can add weight to your opponent.

@Nick Milla it can, depending on the person. For me, I actually have a harder time controlling the armbar due to an old injury. I’ve learned to apply my weight while attacking the kimura. Though I do like to combo them together. 😎

Anytime you tell yourself you can’t do something…add “yet” to the end of the sentence.
Class Structure
I was curious to know how other instructors structure their classes? How long do you conduct class and if you use a curriculum. For example, my current fundamentals class is 24 classes and each class is an hour and structured like this: Warm-up: 10-15min Standing Move: 15-20min Ground Move: 20-25min Review Drill if time allows I try to get all of this within an hour. Sometimes it’s a struggle to fit all of that in the time frame. Any feedback and/or insight would help.

@Jason Reno I just moved to an hour and a half class this week and the students are loving it. It doesn’t feel rushed and I added flow drills and the end as a buy in for rolling.

@James Driskill the positional games help a lot and the students have fun with it too.

Unfortunately, I can only teach/train in the evenings. I will say though, Saturday mornings, cup of coffee and Jiu-Jitsu at 10am is the best!
Hardest lesson🧐
What’s the hardest thing to teach in BJJ? Timing? Pressure? Grip fighting? Guard passing? Etc. As an instructor, I find teaching students how to relax and be calm is most challenging. For a few classes they’re doing great, but eventually go back to being tense. I don’t know if it’s something that can be taught, or if it’s a phase that they have to get through like we all did at one point. Curious to hear your thoughts 👊🏻
