Focus for the week (nature)
This week, get out and spend time in whatever is as close to the wilderness as you can get. Even if that just means standing on your balcony in the sunshine. Ocean would be better. Or forest. If you can’t find time this week then plan a camping trip. Those who lose touch with nature seem sad to me. We are solar panels and should absorb sunshine on as much of the surface of our bare skin as possible. Go out and get naked in the sun. ☀️

Yesterday morning beach walk. Today’s weather seems to be just as nice.

Always a good session. Thanks for the instructor training advice!
Biggest Takeaway from a Private, Camp, or Seminar
What is the single most valuable takeaway (advice or technique) you’ve gotten from a private, camp, or seminar? Mine was advice from a camp with Henry Akins, originally passed down from Rickson: “Training is in the mind.” The lesson is that you don’t necessarily need the best training partners to get good at jiu-jitsu—your focus, intent, and awareness can carry your training a long way.

@Jason Reno That's a really important lesson as well. Being satisfied in the path you choose as a martial artist and ignoring the outside noise.

@Nick Milla 💯agree! learned this from Henry too and it made understanding defense so much easier. Applied with the principles it’s a game changer.
Underhook or Building Frames
When in side control is your go to building frames or underhook ?

The underhook makes things much easier from bottom side control in my opinion. I do like framing as well but not so much with arms and more with a hip escape and using the posting leg to maintain the position.
