Our IRL Connections
Two years ago, at the beginning of November, my husband's mother passed away. She had been in a home for about 4 years, and with everything after Covid, we hadn't seen her for about 3 years, The restrictions for visitors in the home were very strict. They actually were just starting to relax it a little bit when my husband threw out his back. It took him almost a month to be able to handle the drive, and while he was recovering her health took a turn for the worst. We tried to get there in time to say goodbye, but she passed about half way through our drive. In the flurry of funeral planning and all the other things that come with someone passing, he didn't really get time to grieve. Last November was tough. When the anniversary of her passing came, the grief hit my hubby hard. And my father-in-law was getting remarried, so everyone was busy with wedding prep, and he felt very alone with that grief. We’ve been able to have good conversations with his family about that since, but it was a very hard month. His mum was a really big Beatles fan. She grew up in England in the '60s, but she never actually got to see them live. This week my sister-in-law & her husband treated me & my hubby with tickets to go with them to see Paul McCartney. It was huge. The biggest venue in Montreal, packed right to the rafters. But the thing that was the most special wasn't just that we got to go see a rock legend on his last world tour (he's 83) with 21,000 other people. It was the time that we got to spend together, with his sister remembering my mother-in-law. It was being able to connect around something that was such a big part of their childhood. It was being able to be there with him while he got to experience healing in such an unexpected way. To see him really feel connected to his mum, his sister and me like that. I’ve been so focused on building my community the last 3 months, it was really good to just take time to have some deep connection with him. What have you been able to do to connect in your most important relationships lately?

Oh, what a profoundly wonderful experience. I love that for him and for you and for your sister-in-law! What a wonderful gift and perfect timing for the deep healing to happen!!

I'm still on FB but rarely there cause Skool is just so much more fun and productive now!! May we share community links & podcast channels or just socials? I have a YouTube channel but it's very quiet still... Hoping to get that consistent in the new year. 1) 🤝 Ready to grow your network without losing yourself to the screen? @Michelle McCartney thank you!!
😬 It's time for me to be transparent and honest
Recently i've had the personal goal of getting the star in my community. 👉This means getting to #30 or under in Discovery. I figured the easiest way to get it and build a stronger community would be to set up a big prize and have us all work together for it (so that when we get it, it's a US victory, not a ME victory). 😅Well, turns out that posts that encourage you to do tons of activities for the sake of getting activities are considered "engagement farming". I hadn't really considered what we were doing as that, but when someone reached out to warn me about it, it makes total sense. 👉So, here's what we're doing going forward: ❤️We're going to continue building an amazing community and culture in this space. ❤️We're going to continue connecting with each other. ❤️and we're all going to go to Costa Rica in 2026 whether we get the star or not. Let's just DO ITTTT!!!! 👇So, who wants to come? In January, we'll start planning (Reminder, you will have to pay to attend but I will take no profit on the trip so you'll get all of the coaching and masterminding that we do for free)

@Michelle McCartney nice!
☀️ What time of day do you feel the most productive?
The time change has messed everyone up and now we're all waking up super early. I WANT to be a morning person, but honestly, it's hard for me. I find that my kids are the most productive in the morning and I am at night. What about you and your family?

I love being up earlier than everybody else and having time to do my own thing before the day gets started!! I will stay up late as well but always seem to suffer the consequences 😂

@Michelle McCartney haha! My body just pops awake early! No secret - and no way to turn off the internal alarm if it goes off way too early other than meds which is my least favourite way of managing my sleep challenges :) I would love to wake up at 5:30 every day, laze in bed for a bit then get my day started by 6 with my morning routine!!
Hello Mompreneurs, I'm Jenna
Here I go with my reintroduction: I'm a Canadian homeschool mama to 5 great kids, 17 down to 6. 4 girls with a boy right in the middle. And yes, I do love parenting the teen years 😆 There's challenges but they're ones that I feel like we team up to handle rather than I'm just a manager. My favourite days are when we all go to the beach or museums together. I love all the artsy and crafty things. I dabble with water colour painting (though I'm not that good yet) and I really love the fibre arts. Especially weaving and crochet. I enjoy crochet so much that I decided to do that for the topic of my community that I have here on Skool, so now I help people improve their crochet skills. I can't wait to get to know everyone else better too!
