Have you take a breath today?
Following on yesterday's post, I am curious to know if you have taken a breath yet? I am really wanting to bring awareness on our breathing this week. Have you even noticed it? Are you breathing through your nostrils? Your mouth? Is your belly expanding on the inhale? or not? Is your breath long and calm or a little shallow? Do you feel any constriction in your body? Are you stressed? or are you feeling pretty good? Tell me. I really want to hear and help you gain awareness on how present you are currently with your body 🧡 There is absolutely no right or wrong answer here. Just being truthful with yourself and if you feel incline to share it in this community, then please do so. Everything starts from within you know and I am here to guide you back there 🤗

This is such a good reminder Julie. I went to an osteopath recently for persistent rhomboid pain and he told me I have a tight diaphragm. I had never heard of this before. I now need to do breathing exercises - makes so much sense.
Nutrition Tip for the week
An oldie but a goodie..... a large glass of warm water first thing in the morning when you wake! During the night your body dehydrate while she/she is busy detoxifying and repairing (How amazing is our bodies!). It cost nothing, takes 1 minute and has so many benefits! I am a big advocate in "adding good" first instead on focusing on "removing bad" foods. This simple, yet potent little habit, gently wakes your digestive system and you can start your day being hydrated, which is a life force itself! Not only that but it really helps reducing bloating too and gives your body a gentle kick start. You can also go further and put a nice intention to this first glass of water 🧡 Water has memory and is powerful.... but I'll keep that subject for another day, lol ( I can get a little excited about all of this). Have a beautiful day.

Loving these nutrition tips and advice.
Showing up is sometime the hardest thing 🧡
Here is the recording of our first “Sun-Day” Mat Time 🙏 If you have a moment today to put this on and sit on your mat for 20 min then please do so. It’s with practice that the magic happens 🫶 Namaste beautiful ladies and have a peaceful Sunday.

Thank you Julie for the video. I can play it anytime and feel like I have your lovely company while I'm sitting on my mat in the morning. It's encouraging to do this more.
Welcome 🧡
I’m so glad you’re here. 🙏 Come Back to Your Mat is a space created for guidance, reconnecting, and returning to yourself — finding ease again in your body and your mind. This isn’t a place to perform, keep up, or be “good” at anything. It’s a place to arrive exactly as you are. Some days that might look like movement, some days it might look like rest, reflection, or simply being present. You are not alone.... we are very much in this beautiful journey together. Inside this community you’ll find gentle yoga and embodied practices, reflections, holistic nutrition and wellbeing guidance, and a place to be supported as you reconnect with yourself — at your own pace. There’s no expectation to show up perfectly. Just showing up is enough. Showing up here IS the practice. Showing up is just like unrolling your mat. The start of great self habits again. The beginning of a return to yourself 🧡. You’re welcome to observe, participate, rest, share, or simply just BE and breath. There’s no pressure to engage in any particular way. Take what you need, leave what you don’t, and trust your own rhythm. We are in this together. A beautiful way to start your "return" journey to your "Mat" is to introduce yourself below (only if and when it feels right): - Where are you joining from? - What called you into this space? - What does “coming back to your mat” mean to you right now? Take your time. Let this space meet you slowly and from my heart to yours, I thank you for being here 🙏 You are already doing great✨ Julie

Kia ora Julie, thank you for setting up this space for like-minded people to share and connect. I'm Lisa, I'm 54 years old, mother of 2 grown kids, sadly lost both of my parents, been going through the whirlwinds of hormonal menopause changes and I'm also a teacher. I have joined this community to learn more about nutrition, yoga and mindfulness for my health and wellbeing. I look forward to being part of this group.
