WD: What conversation do you hope your book starts?
The best nonfiction books get people thinking, talking, questioning, or seeing something differently. What are people having conversations about after reading your book?

@Kevin Hall I'm dealing with cleaning up father in law's legacy these days. It's too late for him to talk about what he wanted his legacy to be. I wish I knew because right now his legacy is junk to throw into the landfill. I don't think that's what he wanted for his son.

I'm hoping that "This Would Be Funny If It Weren't Sad" (working title) will cause GenX-ish to share their funny stories & sad stories about dealing with end of life parents. And that they will feel heard. ***See! This is what I'm talking about!*** or ***That happened with my dad too!***
Keywords
I know there are certain words that Amazon wants you to avoid, like 'book' 'free' and 'amazon' as keywords, and there are others. My quandry is, I am writing a parenting book and speaking of device use, many parents want their kids to go 'screen free' and so that could be a great keyword phrase for me. What would you do, when the actual subject has 'free' in it?

@Julie Broad Amazon is so vain it thinks everything is about it

My first thought was Who's Arlinda? A new truth AI? The description, "a Black woman who spends a lifetime proving her worth to the world, her family, and herself, only to find that she is enough just as she is" is lovely. Makes me think of the message of the movie, "Soul." Perhaps that description should be at the top left instead of what you have now. I didn't understand that the list on the top left was instructions; I wondered Why is your best friend telling you to Pull a Slip? Is that a term druggies use? Putting slips from the PDF into a bowl is a cool idea. However it doesn't look like a compelling idea as presented. Perhaps a graphic of a hand drawing a slip from a sunlit bowl? Instead of a list of instructions, describe a feeling of... acceptance? however we're supposed to feel when we read the slip. Give people a compelling reason to sign up to download it. Instead of calling it Words of Wisdom, call it something like Bowl of Truth, or Daily Vitamins/Kale (bitter but good for you), or something quaint.
Selling direct
I recently found out about a company called Curios.com who help authors sell direct. My plan going forward is to have US copyright and sell on a platform such as Curios. I will also be selling physical books. I think most people expect you to have books on Amazon. But going forward, Amazon is going to be a very minor part of my strategy. I also recognise that women’s history is not a massive niche. I do the books because I want to do talks. I want to talk about women from the past such as Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë. There are many people out there who do enjoy that. I have promised myself to have my current books on Curios within 2 weeks. My new books coming out at the end of May will also go on there.

I'm not a fan of Amazon. I wouldn't be surprised if indie authors & their fans abandon amazon in the near future.
My updated book cover based upon great feedback to the first cover.
Can you all take a look at this new revised cover and give me some frank feedback regarding: - “What kind of book do you think this is?” - “What stands out first?” - “Would you pick this up—and why or why not?” Thank you so very much!

I thought this last time & didn't know why: If I couldn't read I'd think it was a cookbook. I think because it's a cluttered cutesy design, & the title font looks like cookbook font. This cover looks like a kitchen table. But I don't understand why one side is from a magazine & the other side is a mess. I'd still be interested in reading based on the subtitle. But the "book for women" and cookbook look says it's not for female engineers/businesswomen.
