How Long Do Amazon Reviews Take to Show Up? 👀📚
This question came from @Gale Bates —and the answer is: it depends. Most Amazon reviews typically go live within 24–72 hours after being submitted. But… sometimes they show up within a day, others it could take over a week!🗓️ If it’s been longer than that, there’s usually a reason 👇 ➡️ Why Your Review Might Not Get Posted Amazon has gotten very strict with reviews, and not all of them make it through. Here are the most common reasons: ⭐Reviewer hasn’t spent enough on Amazon: Amazon requires a minimum spend (usually $50 in the past 12 months) to leave reviews. ⭐Too many reviews in a short time: If someone is reviewing a bunch of products quickly, Amazon may flag it as suspicious activity. ⭐Connection to the author: If Amazon detects a relationship (same household, IP address, etc.), the review may be blocked. ⭐Incentivized reviews: If someone feels like they were “bribed” or required to leave a review, it can get removed. ⭐Content issues: Reviews that are too short, overly promotional, or violate guidelines can be rejected. ⭐New accounts: Brand-new Amazon accounts often have a harder time getting reviews approved. ➡️ What This Means for You as an Author Getting reviews isn’t just about asking...it’s about doing it the right way so they actually stick. A lot of authors think:“I’ll just send my book out and ask for reviews…” …but then wonder why nothing shows up. There’s a strategy behind this if you want consistent, approved reviews that help your book rank and convert. Want More Reviews? Check out my book review workshop, it has some great ideas to boost your reviews!

I've been banned for reviews for a decade for Amazon, wish it was something I could have back!

@Krista Brea yes! This was before they actually had a program for it, so they did not like that very much 😅🫠

Weekend Tax Hustle + A Publishing Reminder
I spent most of this weekend in full hustle mode trying to gather all my tax documents together. Let’s just say my bookkeeping skills are… not exactly my strongest area. 😅 But I did something new that actually helped a lot. I used Notebook LM for the first time to upload all of my bank statements and credit card statements and turn everything into a master spreadsheet so I could start itemizing my expenses. Honestly, I feel like @Bradley Deacon and @Gemma Coles would be proud of my AI progress… working smarter, not harder. But the real reason I’m sharing this is an important reminder: If you’re publishing and selling books on Amazon, this is a business. Amazon will send you a 1099, so if you sold books last year you’ll want to make sure you’re looking out for that when doing your taxes. And if you’re just getting started this year, it’s something good to be mindful of early. The cool part of doing all this paperwork though was looking back at the numbers and seeing the growth. To be transparent, last year I earned roughly: • $28K from Audible • $25K from Amazon KDP • About $12K from TikTok Shop sales So the question is… Can you actually make money from self-publishing? I’ll let you be the judge. 👀📚
