🔨 The Build Room is OPEN.
What’s on your workbench today? Maybe you’re building something new. Maybe you’re stuck on one little piece. Maybe you’ve got three ideas fighting for your attention and need someone to help you sort through them. 😂 Or maybe you just need another set of eyes on something before you make your next move. Bring it in. It doesn’t have to be polished. You don’t even have to know exactly what you’re asking yet. Todd and I are here. And so is a room full of builders who may see something you haven’t. What are you working through today? And if you’d rather not put it in the room, DM either of us. That door is always open, too. 💙

@Donna Thornton Enjoy your visit and then enjoy time with Todd. I will text you Friday after work, probably closer to 2:30. And we can go from there as your schedule allows. Thank you for your understanding 🤕😵‍💫

🎂 IMPORTANT SKOOLOLOGY RESEARCH 🎂
Today’s research question: Exactly how much cake is required to properly celebrate Sara's birthday? We’re going to need a LARGE sample size. 😂 Happy Birthday, @Sara Fredrick !! 🥳 I hope your day includes good people, lots of laughter, something delicious, and at least a little bit of doing exactly what YOU want to do. We’re awfully glad you’re here. 💛 Everybody help us wish Sara a VERY Happy Birthday! 🎉🎈

@Sara Fredrick I just wish the emoji figures were a bit bigger. It’s hard to sing 🎶 🎼🎵you a proper birthday ditty when you need a magnifying glass! All the same, have a lovely day ❤️
❤️ BUILDER’S MORNING: When did that get easier?
There are things we do today that once took a whole lot more out of us. A conversation we used to rehearse 14 times. 😂 A decision that would have kept us awake. Hitting publish. Saying no. Asking for money. Changing our minds. Trying again after something didn’t work. And then somewhere along the way, it got a little easier. Not necessarily because the thing changed. Maybe we did. The funny part is, our brains aren't always very good at keeping track of that kind of progress. We notice what’s still hard. What still needs work. How far there is to go. Meanwhile, something that once required a small committee meeting in our head 😂 has quietly become...something we can do. So this morning... What feels a little easier for you today than it did six months ago? And maybe the bigger question... What does that tell you about how you’ve changed? ❤️🐼🎋

@Christy Keeter , and @Lynne Vella , and @Helen Harris , and @Jewels Sherriff ~ You all have been generous, helpful, kind, supportive and encouraging. I am very grateful for your talents because I came home from work a little less stressed about my About Page for my newly named ASL neighborhood. I have some ideas that I have to talk to @Donna Thornton about and then I will put it out there next week for everyone to see and give me feedback. Many thanks, everyone
🎙️ Okay...this Behind the Build is going to be a GOOD one.
@Sybil Hall @Todd Thornton and I just wrapped our conversation, and we went all over the community-building map. 😂 Free vs. paid. How you show up as the community owner. What you do when building gets HARD. Affiliate links and whether they actually make sense for your community. And quite a bit more that I wasn’t expecting us to get into. What I loved most, though, was how much of Sybil’s experience applies whether you’re just opening the doors or you’ve been building for a while. There’s a little something in this one for everybody. ❤️ I’m going back through the conversation now because there are definitely a few pieces I want to pull out and make sure we don’t lose. Sybil’s Behind the Build is coming soon. 🎙️ And Sybil...thank you again for letting us into the REAL build. ❤️

You and Todd are the stars of the evening. Thank you both for getting this up and running for me. I will still have to navigate Chrome but now I can come straight to Skoolology.

My icon does not stay on the bar but I was able to recreate it again. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I will keep working on it.
There’s a lot being built and figured out around here right now. ❤️
Looking through some of the conversations in In the Build, I’m seeing community names being worked through, new offers being tested, graphics getting fresh eyes, decisions about free versus paid, communities being reshaped, new builds beginning, and plans being made for Q4. And that’s only some of what’s happening. It struck me how much lived experience we have in this room. We spend a lot of time trying to figure out our own next move. But I wonder how often something we’ve already tried, changed, learned, or even gotten wrong 😂 is exactly what another builder is trying to figure out right now. As you look around In the Build, where do you find yourself thinking, “Oh, I’ve been there” or “I’m figuring that out, too”? I’m curious what connections you see. ❤️🐼

I see so many communities already named, About Pages defined, and up and running. I’ve got my name, I have to work on my About Page, and then put in the specifics that tie my name to what members can get from my community neighborhood. I’m still working on learning ASL myself and becoming more proficient so there are some things that are going to change a bit. I’m hoping to be in the place where so many others are with their communities. I will feel like I have finally arrived.

@Helen Harris And to think that you were the first one I tapped into because I was so panicked about not even knowing what an About Page was, let alone what it was supposed to accomplish! Is that what they mean by great Karma?
