Business Naming
Hello! I'm in week 1 and I'm trying to name my business, and I'm curious what names some of you came up with for yours. I had already ordered business cards and set up my business bank acct just using my name ("Megan Charette Bookkeeping") but I don't want my name out there like that, so I think coming up with a different name at this point makes sense while it's not a huge deal to change. I think I can just use the business cards I have and then change them when I order again...? Does that make sense? I want to focus, eventually, on supporting minority owned businesses. One idea I had was Better Together Bookkeeping. What do you all think? Do you have any other suggestions? I'm also leaning toward incorporating "Gem" but "Gem Bookkeeping" already exists. Thanks for your feedback!

Some people just use their last name instead of full name. So yours could be Charette Bookkeeping. Mine is Shoemaker Way Bookkeeping.
Week 1 Done!!!
I don't post a lot... As this is my first post. Just wanted everyone to know I got all my 1st week work done ready to start on the next weeks tasks!

Good job! I don’t post much either. It’s nice to have a place to share your achievements with people who get it and are on the same road though
Changing Niches
I'm wondering at what point we should explore other Niches. To be fair, I have not completed a Rule of 100 campaign (100 actions per day for 100 Days), but I have contacted a large number of leads. I had acquired a list of 1,000 leads and sent each company 2 emails. I attempted ringless voicemails for all of these as well, though only some 300 or so got through because of the No Call List. But I think this would still be considered 3,000 actions, right? I'm not sure what else to do with this list. 1. What else could I/should I attempt with this current list before moving on from this niche? 2. When do we know we've tried enough leads in a particular niche? I'm a little disappointed to not have more responses so far. At the same time, the experience has taught me that the process of cold emails is not that hard, and I am willing to keep going because I absolutely want to achieve my dream of a lucrative and flexible BOOKKEEPING business I can run from home. I'm willing to start a full Rule of 100 campaign as soon as I get more leads. Just not sure whether that should be in a new niche.

@Stephanie Brown you could incorporate a couple value only emails. Have it just include a helpful tip and if you have a newsletter set up, give them the option to sign up for a newsletter with recurring tips sent out weekly (or however often you set it up for). That way they get the tip, and you still can get them on your warmer leads list and they may sign up for services later. I plan to only send 4 cold emails. This is just some brainstorming!
Novice to Numbers Ninja
@Melissa Broughton what is different between your "1 Hour Bookkeeper System" and the "Novice to Numbers Ninja"? I had purchased the "1 Hour Bookkeeper System" last May and started going through it but never finished. I have decided this is the year I want to get my bookkeeping business off the ground so I am trying to decide if I need to invest in the Ninja course also.

If I remember correctly, the Ninja course is much more in depth. I don’t remember exactly what is in the 1 Hour Bookkeeper course, but I know the Ninja one is designed to be done over 12 weeks. Lots of templates and extra resources! It’s on sale for $99 right now, so I’d definitely grab it while it is! When I bought it, I got it on a different sale and it was $297. It was worth it at that price, so I personally wouldn’t hesitate to grab it at $99.
Potential Client
@Melissa Broughton I just received this email today and am entering panic mode again. 😭 I know it will get easier after getting a few clients or even a few calls with prospects. ---------------------- I’m considering hiring a bookkeeper for a clean up project for my church's QuickBooks. We would be looking for someone to help us 1) review and clean up QuickBooks, 2) reconcile bank and loan statements, 3) correct transactions classifications, 4) deliver clean reliable financial reports and 5) walk us through how to maintain the bookkeeping throughout the year. We are a non-profit, with monthly donations and fundraising events as primary sources of income, we don't have a payroll and our expenses are mostly building related costs (rent, utilities, maintenance), church/event-related expenses and a personal loan we borrowed to buy the temple. We would be looking to review at least the past 2-3 years of financial records to ensure our statements are clean and reliable as we think about the possibility of pursuing another loan to expand our temple. At this stage, we are primarily looking for an indicative fee range to assess whether the project makes sense for us financially. Some of the main issues we want to address are: Chart of accounts is disorganized and needs restructuring Need better bank and loan reconciliations Transactions appear to be recorded on an accrual basis, while reporting is done on a cash basis Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response. Best regards,

@Jonathan Gutierrez for clean ups, it’s recommended to get 50% up front and the remaining at completion
