I hired a buddy to help me clean a 9,000 square foot home Monday. He helped me clean an office and small home a few months back. I gave him my old home depot squeegee that doesnt hold the rubber in place well. The rubber tends to shift left, exposing the sharp metal edge at the right side. I forgot to alert him to this. We had almost finished the entire house when I noticed several windows with zigzag scratches. The owner is not paying me until the scratch situation gets sorted out. Im having a handyman go over there to try to fill in or fix the scratches. Any window he can restore I'm going to have to replace. I'm pretty nervous about it all. I've never scratched someone's window. Idk if I can blame my employee because I didnt tell him to be careful with the squeegee. I feel like this checks at least two of the boxes for this poll.

@Darius Irani I have a handyman coming out sometime. He has been out of town and so has the house caretaker.

Commercial Window Cleaning Bid
@Benjamin Millen, I've been watching your channel for about a year now and alway appreciate your content! Thank you for setting up this network. We have been doing mostly residential window cleaning (and pressure washing) but are wanting to get into commercial window cleaning. I'm working on a bid for a new (large) restaurant with about 80 sets of windows (2-3 sections in most places - each section is 3-5ft x 4ft for each set. They will want their windows cleaned once a month. Most of the windows will be fairly easy to get to indoors and the outdoor windows we should be able to use a combination of squeegee + mop and water fed pole. They will want the windows cleaned between 7am and 11am before they open so that may be a challenge as well. Anyone have experience with cleaning that large of a building? I'm looking for a rough estimate on how long you think it would take to clean that many windows inside and out and much to charge for monthly cleaning for this many windows at a restaurant. I'm estimating that it will take 6-7 man hours after the initial deep clean (we will use two people for this to meet the time crunch). I have no idea what competitors charge for this kind of job for a monthly clean for commercial. Any feedback would be appreciated!

@Barry Pierce Not trying to pressure you to do anything you're uncomfortable with. I'm curious to see the scope is all. I have a IG account and always ask, "With your permission, I'd like to take photos of the windows and promote you on social media." They have so far all agreed. It's allowed me to build a portfolio.

Questions about a bid I’m working on.
Need a little help on a bid. It’s got some hard to reach windows. Before I bid I want to make sure I can get to them with what I have. Here’s what I’m looking at. I have wfp and stackable ladder. The gutters and don’t want to walk on the roof tiles. Ideas?

@Duane Miller First of all, congrats on making it happen! I get super nervous with those hard to reach, high windows. The customer being happy is ultimately the main goal. I did get the the bid! I will be tackling it a week from Monday with a buddy.

Door knocking?
Have any of you tried d2d? During my research, I've seen several companies aggressively grow their business using this technique combined with agreements. Thoughts?

I get a stack of door hangers and go d2d. If they don't answer, I leave a door hanger. If they do, I hand them the door hanger. I book a much higher percentage of people who answer the door. It's a far greater time spent to homeowners reached ratio. It seems to me to be far more effective in terms of dollars per hour. I would also like to note that being in a referral organization like BNI is also a great use of time. The other local business owners give me referrals and also advice!
