Training for Endurance Goals on WF
@Brian T I’m tossing around the idea of doing a 25k run in about 6 weeks. Not looking to set any PRs, it’s more just for the experience & camaraderie with a few FF buddies. However, I do have a 1/2 marathon scheduled in Dec. & I'm looking at a marathon in Feb of 2026. Over the past 6 weeks I have been increasing my weekly mileage from 11 up to 22 this past week which included 1 long run of 8 miles. My Questions: 1. How can/should I best utilize WF to maintain my current strength/power while simultaneously training for these long term endurance goals?  Should I combine the 3 strength days into 2 days so I can add another low intensity run adding 1mile to my long run each week for the next 4-5weeks? 2. Or do I simply follow the entire program as it's laid out and start with slightly longer times/distances for the conditioning days on Tu/Th/Sat, while adding 1 mile to my long run each week for the next 4-5 weeks? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide. I'm really looking forward to this next 12 week cycle, and beyond

@Brian T Thanks for the reply and feedback! Yes, that all makes sense. To answer your questions…. The first race (25k on Aug 2nd) is just something I’m looking to complete for the experience and to get a long race under my belt. For the half marathon in Dec & marathon in Feb. I know I will not be anywhere near placing but I definitely want to train for them, be competitive and run the best race that I can… Half Marathon Goal is under 2 hours Marathon Goal 4:15-4:20 Also, in addition to swapping out the ruck for a run, what are your opinions about slightly increasing mileage on Tues &/or Sat conditioning?

INTRO
A little late on the intro… I’m a 47 y/o Husband, father, fireman, fitness enthusiast & coach. I found MASS on IG a while back but never really looked into the program. I hopped on Warfighter last week. I’ve been training my entire adult life as a D1 college athlete into somewhat competitive CF and into my career as a firefighter & trainer/coach. I’ve always loved an athletic style training program over anything else so I’m really looking forward to this 1st 12 week cycle of the program!
