Why your audience needs to see you 👀
Let’s talk about visibility for a second. You’ve probably heard me say that you don’t have to post on social media every day to get clients and it’s true, marketing is so much bigger than that. It’s your emails, showing up to events, getting out there meeting people, your client experience, your follow-ups, your partnerships, your community. But here’s the thing… showing up online does still matter. Not for the algorithm but for connection and to be visible. You need to be seen more than 7 times by your prospects, but now due to the high volume of information consumers encounter today, the number of required exposures is likely much higher to build trust. So that means not only showing up at events but showing up consistently online (and I don't mean daily - consistent can be once a week, or 3 times a week). What I have found that the content that get the most engagement is usually the one with me in it. In the last year I shared some content about my origin story, what I did before pet photography and that got a lot of engagement. Yesterday I shared my origin story again. Why I started my business and it got so much engagement. Every time I share it, it reminds me that people connect with people, not just the photos. You can watch it on instagram here: View my reel It’s easy to hide behind our photos, but the truth is your story is part of your brand. When people know why you do what you do, they start to trust you faster. They remember you. They root for you. If you haven’t shared your story in a while… or ever… this is your nudge. Show us the face behind the lens.Tell us what led you here. It doesn’t need to be polished, it just needs to be real. Here's some prompts/ideas that can get you started: - What you did before you were a pet photographer. - Why you started your pet photography business - What was the moment that made you realise you wanted to do this work?

Yeah, I hate getting in front of the camera, but it's true, it is so important to be seen. I am going to make it my thing to be in front of the camera more for my social media for 2026 and this is a really great reminder for the why. Thanks Ina. The more you do something, the better you get at it too. I love your content.

@Ina Jalil I need to get a stick or tripod something to make it easier to film me. Having my arm sticking out isn't great!
Book Project Debrief
So at the start of this year I started a book project. This was my 2nd book project. My first one I did in 2021 and the reason why it took so long for me to do the second one was because I didn't have a good experience with the first one. Mainly because I did everything myself, I was also still working a full time job, didn't qualify the leads so let everyone who applied in, shot 48 sessions for the book in the space of 6 months but then took over 9 months following to try and to put the book together together and I think it traumatised me (i know, it's dramatic but i feel like that's why it took me so long to do another one). Anyway, I'm not sure how useful this is but I just did a launch debrief for my workshop launch so I thought I'd do the same for the book project. Goal: 30 sessions Total sessions filled for the book: 26 Registration fee $150 Donated to charity (50%) - $1950 No of people upgraded: 22 No. of clients purchased: 25 out of 26 Total product sales made: $70,572 Average sale: $2,714.31 Ad spend: $0 Business Sponsors: $8000 ( 1 sponsor at $5k, 1 sponsor at $1k and 4 sponsors at $500). Cost of proof reading and publishing (layout design) - TBC but quote was for $4000 plus $200 for proofreading. Printing quote is around $4500-5000 for 100 copies. Clients came through organically, email list, or emailing existing clients. I also got free publicity in the media using press releases I sent out. I did spend $30 on printing flyers which I dropped at some vets and groomers. Lessons learnt: Outsource putting the book together to someone else. Getting business sponsors was really good (I didn't come up with this idea, thank you, Jes Wasik got business sponsors for her book project so I decided to try and do the same) in that it allowed me to use that cost to put towards paying someone to design and put the book together. Qualify and call all leads. I had qualified leads this time instead of just letting everyone who applied to be in the book. I had a phone call and then an in-person consultation for each one (except for existing clients). All indicated they spent, except one decided at the end that she wasn't in a financial position to purchase. She did however say she may purchase at a later stage.

I love how you have all the numbers for everything. I must find out how to use Studio Ninja better to get those numbers from those "lead origins" etc. It really is making me want to do my own book

@Ina Jalil That's fabulous! I didn't think of using Airtable for doing that. Studio Ninja (as you know) is fairly basic
Do you actually use your ideal client avatar?
That’s totally normal if it’s the latter. Many of us have been told to write down who our dream client is or create our ideal client avatar, but then we’re left wondering, “Now what?” This week we started the first workshop for the Consistent Bookings Workshop. We focused on Ideal client avatars. I asked participants to be honest. Several admitted they’d built ideal client avatars before and have it written on paper, yet struggled to turn them into something practical. So we broke it down together. I shared a custom ChatGPT tool I’ve built (which was included as part of the workshop) that guides you through creating an avatar and then helps you refine and test your messaging against it. Seeing how a potential “ideal client” can give feedback on your captions or your messaging was eye opening. What about you … have you ever created an ideal client profile? If so, how have you used it (or have you tucked it away in a notebook)? Drop a comment, I’d love to hear. Cheers, Ina

Yes, I have an "idea" on what my ideal avatar is, but I haven't really put it to paper properly. I feel like I have a few in my smaller area. I feel like in a capital city you can be more hyper focused on what you want. But sometimes my well spending clients are different here. For example, my ideal client wouldn't normally a lady with a child or children - but my girls and pony sessions do well in my rural area. I would like to explore this some more that's for sure. I overthink things, so this is something I might get Ina's help with. xoxo
What are your wins this week?
Would love to hear what your wins are this week. Mine is that I ran a webinar and I think it went pretty good and I’m so excited to have 8 people already joined the Consistent Bookings workshop which is commencing on November 5. I’m so excited to have @Joanne Merner @Jo Lyons @Adrian Grand @Mary Catala @Adam Wyatt @Stacey Sherman @Andrew Davino and Marie joining the workshop next week. There’s still 4 days left before enrolment closes so if you want to join the action takers and start working on marketing your business to create consistency I’d love you to join Enrol in the consistent bookings workshop here If you’ve got any questions or hesitations about joining let me know Remember Action Takers = Money Makers!!

@Michelle Petkovic I would only offer 3 digitals for that low price. Or it will be quite the shock to those that do book a full session with you. xoxoxox

I got 176 leads from a local show I attended on Friday and Saturday. I met heaps of people and discovery call bookings are coming in. I have been doing the show for 3 years and I'm looking to streamline my process next year, but really loved the interaction with the public again

@Sharon Canovas He is a level 5 cling on that's for sure! He does love to be a lap dog. He was just a puppy in the Mini and Giant photo above.
