🚜 Let the Groan Wars Begin: Land Dad Joke Challenge 🌾
Alright y’all… it’s time to dust off your dad brain and drop the cheesiest, punniest, most eye-roll-worthy land dad joke you’ve got. Whether it's about subdivides, soil, septic, or selling sight unseen — if it makes us laugh and regret reading it, it counts. I’ll go first in the comments. Winner gets eternal (cringey) glory and maybe even a “Plot of Honor” badge. GO.👇

I used to invest in swampland, but I stopped. The market was too watered down.
Poll Time

How to Build Real Connections in a Digital Land Business
The success of a land business doesn’t just depend on: - The properties you buy - The systems you build - The hours you put in It also depends on who you know and who knows you. Many land investors focus on deals and data, thinking that’s what drives growth. But without real connections, the business often hits a ceiling. No referrals. No trusted peers to turn to for advice. No community to learn from or lean on. The investors who grow faster are the ones who build relationships, not just lists. They show up in conversations, share insights, and help others without expecting something in return. Over time, those small interactions become partnerships, support systems, and opportunities that no ad could buy. Same work. Same market. Different network. Different results. Your next breakthrough might not come from another lead source, but from someone you haven’t met yet.

If only there was a magic bullet to make hiring easier.... More and More I'm shooting to hire high caliber talent and just bake in the extra cost.

@Dave Denniston I mean... Yes. Money can short cut a lot of things! But even then, I'm bought into the idea that paying for higher caliber talent and experience not only results in higher capacity team members with better aptitude and skills but is frankly just an all-around higher roi on human capital. They learn faster, they make better decisions, they're better at avoiding costly mistakes, they take ownership more frequently, the list goes on and on. The issue as you noted however is how do you make sure that you are actually paying more for higher quality and not just paying more for the same mediocre talent. If there was a magic way to confirm this then you could be a trillionaire in no time but alas that doesn't exist. I think you are correct that having good hiring processes and systems simply increases the likelihood that you find higher quality candidates. It just doesn't provide any guarantees. The few principles that I keep thinking about are: - If you don't think they are an A player by the end of week 2, they aren't magically going to become one later - Find a way to Work together before you Work together - Repel the wrong people by taking strong stances In the hiring process on the team culture items that matter
