🎬 From Lost and Overwhelmed to Trailer Music Wins — Meet Matt
Every once in a while, someone in our community shares a journey that perfectly captures what this whole thing is about. That’s exactly what happened when I sat down with Matt, who just a couple of years ago was stuck — struggling to break into the trailer music world, doubting himself, and unsure where to go next. In his words: “I had the music... but no plan. No idea where to send it, who to talk to, or how to even approach people. It felt like shouting into the void.” But things did change. Matt went from working completely alone to: - Signing with three trailer music libraries (including ones doing Marvel and AAA placements) - Releasing a full trailer album - Writing custom tracks that are now being pitched to major campaigns - Finally getting to work on trailerized pop song arrangements — a dream of his from the start - All of this happened once he stopped working in isolation and started building a real strategy, accountability, and support system around his music career. 🎥 In this video, Matt talks about: - The moment everything began to shift - How real feedback, live calls, and step-by-step planning helped - And why the echo chamber so many composers are trapped in is the real creativity killer - Watch the full interview in the attached video. If you’re curious about the program Matt is talking about — the one that gave him the tools, clarity, and support to finally break through — you can check it out here: 👉 Learn more about the Audio Artist Rise Program There’s no magic bullet. But there is a clear path forward — and a group of people who have your back. ✌️ Alex

Video Game Music Question
It’s something I’m interested in getting into in the future, though rn my time is fairly stretched and my focus is elsewhere but i still want to get practice in before I push for it. How do you guys practice writing game music? I know it’s loop based and there’s in game triggers that start a certain track, so would a way to practice that be to make up a scene where you’ve got a foundation like “walking through a house” then something happens where “suspense” comes in then “action scene” etc? And it all relates to the foundation? Hope that made sense lol 😅

@Alex Pfeffer thanks Alex! I’ve gone through a handful of the vids in the program which have been helpful but was wondering what composers do to practice before they’re working with game devs. Maybe I can give myself or have chat gpt give me a brief and do it that way just to get an idea/build confidence. Appreciate it 🙏

@Pere Revert thanks so much for the detailed reply! I appreciate it 🙏 lots to play with
What was your last piece of music on repeat? I mean ON REPEAT!
Hey everyone, just curious about what track from a band or an artist have you listened on repeat during the last days. I don't mean like "Yes, this is a track I quite like" repeat. I am talking "why tf do I have to listen to this track whenever I can, even if it's in between breaks of making music and in the night I wake up because the chorus runs on repeat in my mind 24/7" repeat! I go first 😅

Music Festivals for Composers??
Have you guys heard that NIN announced a festival for music composers? It's called Future Ruins and it happens in LA this November! Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are some or my favorite modern day composers so i am looking forward to this even if i dont attend this year!! Thoughts? Would anyone attend from this group? https://pitchfork.com/news/trent-reznor-and-atticus-ross-announce-new-future-ruins-music-festival/

Damn, this would be amazing. But also, way too far away haha. Hopefully they take it to other countries. TR and nin have been a massive influence on me since I was a teenager
Question about introduction emailing (Trailer publishers)
Was wondering if everyone sends out batch introduction emails of 50+ or if they send out a few at a time? I sent out my first few (5) emails a couple of days ago but my list is at about 50. I just don’t want spam people lol *Additional question: when you email are you scheduling it for a specific time to land in their inbox at a certain time? Does it matter?

@Max Bolotov nice, thanks for the tips! Before I send out each email, I look at recent horror placements on trailers they’ve had and include it in my intro to personalise it so hopefully that’s less spammy. Any advice on how to find out what their days look like? I’ll ask ChatGPT (haha) and maybe the trailer composers fb group I’ll definitely have to update my linked in acc and go with that Thanks man 🙏

@Dave Graham thanks for the tips! I ended up getting some interest from a small publisher so I’m going to hold off sending any more emails. Would you say a “rule of thumb” would be sending to maybe 2-3 companies a week if i get no reponses? I’m more sending a application/intro email rather than albums. I’ve found doing that little extra research to make it personal really helpful to get more of a grasp on who’s getting what placements etc. at least the ones they’re advertising anyway also the publisher I got a response from ended up replying at like 4am where my others I’d scheduled to get in their inbox by like 730am so yeah can confirm it doesn’t matter what time to send haha
