The Little Things…
Sometimes it’s nice to just look back. Be it classic films, albums or a simple day-to-day tool. Like the humble pen. Now it’s no secret that an EDC (Every Day Carry) of any gentleman or woman always have a pen on their person. However it’s the choice of pen that is everything. This is in no way an advertisement but I wanted to highlight the pen that I recently purchased from Bespoke Post as it has totally changed the way I write and the way I feel about the subtle art of writing. I journal pretty much daily just to get the remaining pieces of yesterday off my mind and as a way to wipe my mental slate clean. This little Kaweco Sport from the company Kaweco, of Germany, is just wonderful. Handmade in Germany it’s not surprise that the engineering makes it so easy to just write. If you’re looking for an upgrade, this may be worth looking into. Cheers all, — John

Everything Old Is New Again
Good morning, gentlemen, Lately there has been a lot of talk about ties and wearing ties. How ties are coming back in the fashion and style scene not because it is mandatory in the workplace but because people are looking for a change and to be set apart. Some are looking at ties as a way to up their appearance without spending a fortune, either way ties are becoming the new aesthetic for men. For me, as a kid I was made to wear one on special occasions and to church functions. As I got older and I was placed and a supervisor position I was told to wear one, but as soon as I was not required, I did not wear them. fast forward years alter I find myself wearing them not because I am told to or have too, but because I love the look of them, I love how they accentuate my clothing and brings more options to outfits. What are your thoughts on ties? Do you wear them for work, for style, because it is required for you to? Do you see more men wearing ties as a trend, fashion statement, or the fact that many are getting back to the basics of being a gentleman? Do you see more men wearing button shirts and ties becoming the norm? Share your thoughts on this new era of men's wear.

I love my ties, i don’t think i wear them enough! I think it’s because my style choices and climate makes it easier to forego them. That being said I enjoy the process of bringing an outfit together with that quintessential step of a matching tie.

@Anthony Buntyn Thanks to your post I decided today’s outfit needed a tie! All my lovely Jerry Garcias need a work out. Cheers!
Society Announcements
Ladies and Gentlemen, I wanted to make a few announcements and updates about our Society. First of all, In the interest of making everything as legitimate and transparent as possible, I wanted to let everyone know that we have officially created a business bank account under the name, “The Society of Ordinary Gentlemen”. I had a personal account that was designated only for the Society funds but since it was a personal account it couldn’t not be in the Society’s name and I would be the only one on the account. One of my requirements for a business account is that it accepted Zelle so that donation lines would not get cut off. I have also started a business Venmo account for the same reason. That being said, it you are going to donate this Gentlemen’s Patronage Day through Zelle or Venmo, please check linktree since the QR code and the Venmo handle have changed. There have also been a couple of additions to the classroom. “A Gentleman's Personal Care” course has been added thanks to @David Zandar and a history course entitled “The Downfall of the Gentleman” has been added explaining the history behind the loss of the gentlemen concept and how the Society wants to combat that. This course came from a suggestion from @Nicholas Logan . Thank you for that. I put out a couple of links for Movie Recommendations which was a suggestion of @Jo Henderson and will be compiling that in the next few days and adding that to the course list that that everyone can reference that. We will also be changing some of the categories and the level names to more align with a gentlemen’s society. I ask that the categories that are more serious and contain post that have deep thought that should be taken seriously not have any comical comments as that will take away from the seriousness of the post. Thank you for your attention to these matters

Good morning @Stephen Arnold and fellow members, thank you for the update this is very exciting indeed. Having been a part of this group since its near inception i am very pleased to see how small yet mighty this organization has become and just wanted to share. Have a wonderful day everyone. Cheers!
Rainy Day Fits
This week, all I have heard rattle around in my brain is Billie Holiday singing stormy weather. Yes, it’s that time of year where San Diego goes dark and damp and everyone forgets how to operate a motor vehicle because a little water is falling from the sky. No, i’m not holding a grudge, really! Anywho here are some of my favorite fits of this week. Stay classy and dry everyone! Cheers, - John

Valentine's Day - What a stupid holiday!!
Before I'm crucified for this, let me explain. If you have someone you love, why limit it to celebrating only one day. In my opinion, you should celebrate the one you love everyday and not just limit it to one day a year. Thoughts?

It appears that the sentiments are shared amongst ourselves but, I'm throwing my hat in anyhow. I don't necessarily find the holiday stupid but, I do see how it may be a reductive holiday for those with a partner. That being said, I quite enjoy the day because it's a day where everyone is celebrating love and joy. Restaurants, theaters, bars, bookstores and every other lovers hideaway is busting at the seams with likeminded people. Call me a sap but, I think, in the words of the great american song book, love is a many splendored thing.
