John C. Lubarsky, 43. I used to run in high school and stopped when I hit college. After putting on significant weight over the years I happened to find RezRuns and RunArnoRun on youtube around 2018 and it inspired me to lace back up. During this time I was battling many health issues steming from poor diet, alcoholism, thyroid disorder, sleep apnea and a failing marriage. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had recently had bloodwork done and found I had pre-alcoholic cardiomyopathy and numbers that were scaring my doctors. I had two young daughters and wanted to be around to see them grow up. Enough was enough. I became an overnight vegan (not for life, just to reset my blood and body) and decided to literally run for my LIFE. I knew I had to take it slow to avoid injury, medical complications and burnout. I downloaded an app called "Couch 2 5k" from Zen Labs Fitness which utilizes the Galloway method (Run-Walk-Run). After a few months I was able to complete my first 5K in decades on May 17, 2018 (the only distance I'd ever run). In July of 2018 I purchased a book called "The Running Revolution" by Dr. Nicholas Romanov, the creator of the POSE Method. I implemented his method and changed my foot strike from a heel-striker to a forefoot-striker. I also started training in zero-drop shoes. This would come back to bite me. I was hooked and decided to attempt a 10K. I downloaded the "Couch to 10K" app and since I'd already completed their 5K app, it started the training from where I left off and built on the momentum. After a few more months I completed my first 10k on Aug 4, 2018 (where my profile picture here was taken) in Maine at the annual lobster festival. It was incredible and I really enjoyed that distance. I would go on to complete one more 10K on July 14, 2018 in Atlantic City at the Vegan Food Festival and 10K in which I had the honor of running beside one of my idols, Scott Jurek, and listening to a great talk from him afterwards.

@Arno Tessers Thanks brother! Yeah I wrote it all in one shot even though I know I told you most of it so that others could hopefully be inspired. Feel free to share my story however you see fit :) I'm definitely exploring the surgical options. I'm also going to run a "turkey trot" on Thanksgiving (a fun 5K that families walk/run together to just get out there. No real "race") it'll be my first time jogging in 5 years! I was rewatching your WDW videos from years ago and it lead me down the ultra marathon documentary rabbit hole lol. I also saw the one you made when I sent you the gimbal! How's it working out? Do you still use it at all? I'm assuming in 5 years the tech has got out of this world but it was nice to reminisce. Great job making this community man.YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. ~John
