Work out a price with the person who made the referral, that way they keep sending you more. I would say at least $100

@Asmaa Courdi being too friendly has nothing to do with it. There are just some people that will try and take advantage of any situation and you just have to set the rules and expectations. Why are you having to look for fuel stations for them? Was that agreed upon on the contract? You need to set the expectations, because at the end of the day it's your business and your reputation. If the driver is not working out, find another one. I know it's easier said than done, but don't put up with drivers like that. It is to their benefit to communicate with you so the end client is happy with the service, otherwise they will more than likely tell you that next time they don't want to see a driver from that company again. It happens. Just set the expectation and make it very clear.

@Deen Lillah This has to be an expectation during your onboarding. If it's after the fact, give the driver a call when they have a few minutes to chat and let them know how important it is. Ask them to give you an update every so often that way you know they are running on time, also when the broker/shipper wants to know where they are, you can tell them right away. They also need to give you an update if they get stuck in traffic or if they break down, basically anything that can delay them to the consginee. It's part of the job and you keep the broker/shipper happy becaue they don't have to ask you, you can actually give then an update without them asking.

@Flavio Aguiar I'm a freight broker and it would be hard to do it part time. Carriers/Drivers are very demanding at times, but so is the job itself. I just don't see anyone being successful doing it part time because there is no specific time of the day this would work best. This is something you have to jump all in.

@Jose Orsini sorry for the late response. It would not work because the loads are usually posted the same day. It would be nice if you could book loads ahead of time, but that's just not how the industry works. Loads are posted and booked within the hour and things can change before the pickup day. I'm a freight broker and only about 1% of the loads we move are scheduled ahead of time, which means 99% need to move the same day or the next day. It would be difficult to book ahead of time, as most loads need to move the same day. We do have clients that have a load every Friday or every Monday, but of you're going to dispatch multiple drivers, those loads would not be available to all of them. I hope that makes sense.

Robert, the simple answer is yes. It doesn't matter how many carriers you have. If the carrier that allows you to use their MC for the DAT, leaves then you will have to ask another carrier. Once you get enough carriers you might what to get your own MC so you don't have to deal with this, but that's down the road. Hope that's helps.
