Thank you for your kind words. I will show my son how much support he has gained through this group
Straps on gloves
It feels like more gloves now have no straps or removable ones, is this a trend or is there another reason? Zac prefers fixed straps as finds the removal ones come off too easily and the personalisation is less effective. What do people think?

My son wears One Gloves and they come with removable strap. They are a more fitted glove rather than the wider fingered fit. I prefer him to wear Kalieer gloves as they last longer and have that wider fingered fit. They are strapped gloves

Scariest moment
Whats the scariest moment you have had during a match or training?? For Shawn and me it was once during training a few years back that the fields beside the pitch caught fire and burning pieces kept flying into the pitch whilst we where trying to evacuate.

This isn’t so much a scary situation for me but was for one of our players. Before I helped coach my son’s team and was a parent on the sidelines, a coach from the other team shouted at one of our players. Our player came in with a clumsy tackle, that wasn’t malicious, and a free kick was awarded. The opposition coach ran down the line and shouted at our player after the free kick was given. The kids were 8 years old. I kept an eye on the kid and he was visibly shaken and it affected his game. No one said anything to the other coach and it was swept under the carpet. I asked the kid what was exactly said and he didn’t want to talk about it. Which, of course, was fair enough. I told our coaches about it and no one seemed like they thought it was a big deal. So I waited until after the game and approached the coach of the opposition. I was calm and asked him wha happened and he then told me what an awful foul it was etc….. I then asked him if he thought his actions were justified? He didn’t know what I meant, so I explained how his actions affected that kid and how it could affect him later on with his relationship with adult coaches. He just repeated ‘I can see how you would see it that way’ over and over. I said it’s not how I would see it, it’s how your actions have been interpreted in an aggressive manner to a child. He still didn’t get what I was meaning so I left him with my thoughts. Again, very calmly. I said ‘you are seen as the leader of those kids and your actions are copied and behaviours are learned through you. You have a responsibility to carry yourself as an example to those kids.’ I left a long pause after I finished talking, waiting for a response. Nothing. Why am I sharing this? I don’t know 😂 I guess it reminded me of my actions and the way I interact when coaching kids on our team and how that can be interpreted. Be the example I guess. Not shared this before….

@Karen Ramos football has to be fun at this age. Kids feeling extremely anxious and nervous at a young age because of coach is unacceptable
