Why You Feel Like Quitting (And Why You Shouldn’t)
At some point in your coaching journey, you will feel like quitting. It’s not a character flaw. It’s part of the path. If you’ve been in coaching long enough, you’ve wanted to quit. Not once. Probably multiple times. So the real question isn’t if that feeling will hit. It’s what you do when it does. The desire to quit usually shows up for three reasons. First, you’re not seeing traction. No new clients. No engagement. No obvious proof that this is “working.” And silence can feel like failure. But progress and results are not always the same thing. Many times in coaching, you’re laying the foundation long before momentum shows up. You’re building skill. You’re refining your message. You’re strengthening your offer. Progress often happens invisibly before it shows up financially. Sometimes you’re building capacity before you build income. The real question is, can you stay in the “desert” long enough to reach the breakthrough? Second, you’re overwhelmed by noise. Every time you open Instagram or YouTube, someone has a new strategy. If you listen to everyone, you’ll end up doing nothing (or constantly pivoting). And if you chase every new strategy, you never master one. Consistency beats constant reinvention. Most coaches don’t fail because their model is broken. They fail because they never stick with one long enough to master it. Third, you’re tired. You’ve invested time. You’ve invested money. You’ve invested energy. And when the return doesn’t match the effort, it’s demoralizing. But here’s something important… Don’t make big decisions when you’re exhausted. Get sleep. Take a day off. Reset your body. A clear mind makes better decisions. Whenever I’ve felt like quitting, I come back to four things: 1. I don’t make big decisions when I’m tired. 2. I practice gratitude. 3. I ask myself, what is the highest-leverage use of my time? 4. I define one daily win based on action. Feeling like quitting doesn’t mean you’re failing.

Coaching, Contribution & the Legacy You Leave
Many people step into coaching because they want to earn more. There’s nothing wrong with that. Growth matters. Financial freedom matters. Building something meaningful matters. But the best coaches, the ones who truly build something extraordinary, get into coaching because they want to help people. They want to see lives change. They want to see confidence grow. They want to see families lifted, futures expanded, and potential realised. At the Expert Coach, that belief sits at the core of everything we do. Yes, we teach people how to build sustainable wealth. Yes, we believe you should create security and opportunity for yourself and your family. But we also believe success means very little if it stops with you. In 2025, through the support of our clients and the profits in our business, we’ve been able to give back in a way that reflects that belief. We continue to support a school in Bali near where we run our retreat. The children there have severe learning challenges, and your contributions are going towards the renovation of their physiotherapy room which is a space that will play a vital role in improving mobility, strength, and independence for these children. Right now, the attached photos may not look like much. But the impact this space will have will be astronomical. Because when you improve a child’s physical capacity, you improve their confidence. When you improve their confidence, you improve their future. That’s legacy. We believe in business for good. We believe in giving back beyond yourself. We believe in building wealth with purpose. Around the world, wherever we run programs, we invest into charities and help build schools because coaching isn’t just about transactions. It’s about transformation. You only have one life. One opportunity at this extraordinary thing called life. And when you reach the end of it, you don’t want to look back and wish you’d played bigger or given more. So I invite you to think about your legacy.

Impact over Income! Let's GOOOOOOO!
RYD - Ed is Nailing it!
"When you bring back small, consistent moments of connection, things shift quickly" When I read this, it was like a motivational spring board if I am being totally honest. Flowers from the local grocer, arranged and set out with no warning and no reason. When she is watching TV, I press pause and ask or comment about something on the show that I find particularly meaningful and relevant to our relationship and our lives. Suggesting out of the house activities that are all about her and making preparations, packing provisions, arranging parking, creating and collaborating on nuance on the regular and not just special moments. Making this an atomic habit. (Shout out to James Clear!) Doing little things to bring joy and awaken spirit in a positive way. Making memories. Writing this post to encourage you to do the same because YOU DESERVE IT! Yes, things keep shifting quickly! Sending Big Love! Jim

@Ellie Dawson you are most welcome Ellie! I am glad that it landed with you as it did with me. Small consistent moments of connection. In the words of Ben Franklin, “Little strokes fell great oaks”.
I almost quit on my dream…
I wanted to reach out before my day wraps up because you’ve been on my mind…. I know how life is... And I never want anyone to look back and wonder what might’ve happened if you’d taken the next step. Cos life does get busy. Inboxes fill up. Decisions get pushed to tomorrow. And sometimes really good opportunities quietly slip by without us even realizing it. That’s why I wanted to personally check in about the COA Training System. If I had to guess, I’m thinking the investment might be what makes people pause? Let’s face it… Even with a massive $11,000 discount… $997 may seem like a lot to swing. I get it. And today, more than ever, we need to be careful with our money. Every time I go shopping it seems everything is more expensive! So I watch my money as closely as I watch Bambi & Belle when we’re out for a walk… I hate to blow it on things that don’t give me an experience or a return on investment. Here’s why I’m a bit emotional though… And I’ll hope you’ll hear me out? When I was growing up... I was fascinated by the water. I loved lakes. I loved the sea. I loved swimming and did lots of competitions. I loved boats and used to collect model boats and remote control boats. I even wanted to be a rescue boat captain when I grew up! And I wanted to have my own sailing boat one day. But... For whatever reason life got in the way. I grew up, I guess? So I went to the lakes less. I swam less and less. And I had to let my boat captain dream go. And you know what? One of the saddest days of my life was when I put all my boats in a box and put them in the loft. It was heartbreaking. Because I was taking my dreams and putting them in a box and out of reach. Now… Little did I know… In my early 20s… Through a completely random series of events… I got the opportunity to learn how to sail a boat! Not only that… But I was paid $20k by a Russian billionaire to consult with his company. Which was just a MIND BLOWING amount for me at the time.

I too have purchased the COA plan and it has made me rethink my positioning, my niche and helped me to identify my "ideal client" in terms of what I can do for them and how I communicate this messaging in a compelling way. Thanks Ed! This is a great post. You truly have a gift my friend. So grateful for you.
