Thoughts on cover
My last 2 published projects were sci-fi novels, and now I am back to NonFiction. My latest project is a biography of my father. Here is a snippet about the book. I would love any feedback on the cover. Thanks! Good Cop Dad Cop is the true story of Sergeant Jim Mildon, a beloved Twin Falls, Idaho police officer whose greatest legacy wasn't the badge he wore—it was the lives he touched. Part biography, part small-town history, and part collection of unforgettable stories, the book follows Jim from his mischievous childhood in the 1950s and 60s, through military service, ambulance work, and a 31-year career with the Twin Falls Police Department. Along the way are humorous pranks, dangerous police calls, championship coaching seasons, acts of quiet generosity, and countless moments that earned him the respect of an entire community. Told through the eyes of family, friends, fellow officers, and the people whose lives he changed, Good Cop Dad Cop is ultimately about character, service, fatherhood, and the lasting impact one ordinary man can have on an extraordinary number of people. It is a celebration of a life well lived and a reminder that the greatest measure of success is the difference we make in the lives of others.

Life lesson
I just had a friend from high school (i'm almost 70) pass away. I knew Dave in high school, and he helped me on the baseball team, he was there when I needed him. He was Mr. 3 sports and excelled at them all. I also worked with his mom, a cashier at the local grocery store where I had my first real job. She was good and fast and if you could keep up with her, you were then considered accomplished at your task of bag boy! I met Dave later on when we both worked at the same company - I was his boss for a short while, but he was a friend and a colleague and there when we needed him. Then later on we shared spotlight in helping the 50th high school reunion committee get arrangements made, and we pulled off a reunion still being spoke about today. So why do I say all of this now, yes - I miss my friend Dave, but its more than that for he taught me a lesson and one that I have heard echoed here a time or two. That is - Show up, Be genuine and Add value. That is how I will choose to remember my friend Dave, and that is how we should all approach this business. May you all have a great evening!

Miraval Miracle
I recently posted this poem and would love to see some engagement from the community! I sent it to the Miraval - Hyatt executive team and they said maybe they will publish it. 👏🏽🙏🏽 The amount of courage it takes to share my creative voice with the world is invigorating. 😅 Next week I have another inspirational poem scheduled for Monday - little by little taking steps towards the author journey. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/brittanysunshinerae_inspirationalleadership-miraval-poetry-activity-7469693463324725249-RS3U?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios&rcm=ACoAAAY3y7sBiJ37nNCYdgHK49z4ho5z9gXG8FI

What stands out most is the vulnerability. The poem captures the feeling of surrendering control and finding peace in uncertainty. Lines such as "I have peace with the unknown, a vast ocean to sail ahead" evoke a sense of spiritual awakening and emotional release. The imagery shifts between the vastness of nature, the stars, the mountains, and the inner landscape of the soul, creating a dreamlike quality. As both a reader and a songwriter, I agree with Rob's comment about the piece being surprisingly musical. It doesn't read like a traditional poem with rigid structure or rhyme; instead, it flows more like song lyrics or a spoken-word piece set against ambient music. The repetition of emotional states—peace, flow, presence, awe, joy—creates a rhythmic pulse that carries the reader through a personal transformation. I followed you on Linked-In so can see the next one. Thanks for sharing this.

@Brittany Gudex I live in Utah
Does it make you an International Book seller?
I've sold around 10 books total internationally - i.e. Canada, Africa, UK and Australia - but does that make me an international book seller? I have a local airport that says International Airport - but it flies to US 95% of time, and Canada maybe 5% of the time. Does that really make it an International Airport. BTW I'm in Rochester NY and Canada is maybe a 30 minute flight across Lake Ontario. Silly things I think about when I let my mind wonder...

I think you can rightfully claim to be an international author, for sure!
