Using ChatGPT to generate Blender Python code
Hello, Do you have any experience in using ChatGPT (or any other LLM) to help you with Python code for Blender? If so, when did you find it most useful? Anything interesting you found? What level of experience do you think is best to pickup tools like this? I have personally used it to generate some initial code, to debug code that doesn't work, to explain some existing code to me or even teach me some basics about Python. Having very little experience in Python it has given me mixed results depending on the complexity of what I am asking but it sometimes worked surprisingly well. Really interested to know your thoughts!

Hey! I have done quite a bit... you learn quite quickly where the limits are.. you have to have a very clear goal, initially I thought I could just throw anything at it, but you clearly feel when it starts going in circles, because sometimes you ask too much of it too soon. But if you're patient it can certainly help you. I've done some java for Processing, where it helped me generate a sketch that could generate a .py file that I emported in Blender..!! also REALLY pleased about the new ability to show screenshots to it!! but thing are about to change drasticly with the recent improvements, good times!!

Deepseek allows you to enable "DeeptThink" and "Search" so it thinks aloud AND has access to up-to-date information on the web. It's very very good, and of course the reason therir website is overloaded.. but It can be run externally, also locally, deffo one to try
Hi!
I'm Yohan, a french-born, UK based industrial designer, artist and photographer. Glad to join this community! I have been interested in scripting and generative workflows over the past few years in various software (Blender, Adobe Suite, Grasshopper), and recently created various simple Blender addons to improve my workflow that I am hoping to share with the community soon. Looking forward to learning and sharing with everyone!

Salut! and Hey! Great to meet you!
Hi!
I’m Jacob from Denmark. I’ve worked extensively with video, TV, portraiture and teaching. In recent years, I’ve embarked on a new art-and-contemplation journey. I plan to use Blender primarily for: 1. Cleaning up wireframes from PLY lidar scans and photogrammetry. 2. Exploring 3D turtle-graphics for generating patterns, inspired by my love for turtle-graphics in Python, Snap!, and TurtleStitch. 3. Solving geometric challenges within Blender, combining Python scripting, Geometry Nodes, and Grease Pencil. I’m also looking to improve my Python skills to generate flat patterns and integrating them with my work in laser cutting, embroidery, stencils, and other traditional techniques. My art is inspired by nature, with a long-standing fascination how plants grow. I’ve also worked with L-systems in TouchDesigner and Houdini. Blender feels like a perfect next step for merging these passions. Look forward to co-nerding with you guys!

@Yohan Benchetrit Hi Yohan! nice to meet you too! oh yes!! it's certainly embroidery, using wireframes from a heavily decimated lidar scan.. so YUP! I'd really like to extend the turte to the 3D-space, but havn't found good solution yet!

you can see some of my turtle work here: https://snap.tekiela.dk/ I would like to turn it into an opensource community-fueled database with grapical inspiration and ressources.. I am working on a beginner course so everybody can join! :-)
Palette Renderer Add-on
Hi, guys!😃 I’ve decided to take the plunge and turn my script into an add-on! 🎉 For now, it’s got minimal functionality (there are still a couple of features that haven’t made it to the panel yet—one step at a time!). But overall, I’ve made some progress. I’m not thinking too much about what comes next—just trying to enjoy the process and have fun along the way! 😊✨

@Tetiana Markov hey! looking really good! are these palettes internal-blender-only or might they be exported to other programmes?
