Decide To Start Living
I saw this image and it really got me thinking. I’m a massive advocate of the idea of try everything first. Before you do something you can’t take back, try everything first. Try everything first. That advice has save my life multiple times. And the more I share it, the more lives it saves. But this image has prompted something new, what is the equivalent of ‘try everything first’ when it comes to thriving. When it comes to choosing to live a life that is worth living, to become self actualised, to follow our dreams, to do what we were put here to do. Let me know what advice you could give someone to prompt this sort of emotional response.

We are wired to live, and live fully. I get it. I too have dark nights of the soul. I also have an appreciative mindset. And I know that while these are contradictory thoughts and feelings, I can hold both at once. For example, imagine holding all the things in our life we feel responsibility for: family, friends, home, job/career, self-care, etc. Imagine each as a small rock in your non-dominant hand. Then imagine a feather in the other. Now, without pinching or grasping the feather, walk gracefully through life, holding both. ❤️

I've always been a planner, a doer. And last year my life turned upside down. So I've been living into life rather than trying to dictate it like I used to. Trying out the "BEing" part of life. This year, I plan to: Feel deeply, authentically, and often. I'm taking a lot of online classes, daily practices, writing, traveling, WWOFing, and discovering my place in the world.

December Self-Care Challenge - Staying Sane This Festive Season!
If you are like me, December can be pretty overwhelming with all the commitments and catchups on top of regular life. I love it, but if I don't take the time to rest and recover, I burn out. So rather than go through that cycle again, I've decided to preemptively implement some self-care and I am inviting you to do the same (making it a challenge to keep us all accountable to one another... and more importantly ourselves)! HOW TO JOIN THE DECEMBER SELF-CARE CHALLANGE: Pick one small act of self-care you can do every day to stay grounded and regulated. Something that feels nourishing, simple, and doable. eg: - Music - Reading - Take a bath - Meditation - Nature walk - Exercise - Cup of tea - Journaling Or choose something you’ll cut back on this month to ease the pressure. When you’ve chosen your practice, comment below and let us know what you’re committing to and why! I will keep this post pinned until new year!

Love the idea of silence and lowering the amount of input. I’m going to schedule less online calls and focus more on in-person exchanges.
The Vulnerability of Joy & Sillyness
I have just come back from a day of inner work through the Island of Man and had an insight that I would like to share and get your thoughts on. There is a vulnerability to be found within joy and from sharing our happiness. One that is just as important to explore as the darkness. Context: we were offered a variety of different workshops that (I felt) would have been an invitation to explore the darkness and work with the deeper aspects of the self, inner work etc. Beautiful and amazing facilitators offering incredible processors and discussions. I haven't worked with these men before, and would like to do so at some stage, but I felt called instead to do a workshop on improv comedy - something that 'serious Zac' would never have engaged with or even considered. I realized that I could fall into the habit of doing the deep work, exploring and sharing the darkness, doing that kind of work yet again. And while it would have been valuable, it wasn't as scary as simply playing, making a fool of myself, and exploring and sharing laughter. I initially felt out of my comfort zone, but quickly realized that a good thing. Playing and expressing within the positive, the silly, the joyous holds a level of vulnerability that I need to explore, one that up until today I never even knew I was ignoring. Question: What is scary for you to explore and express? And why?

I live in both worlds these days. In the past, I would have said Inner Darkness because I would have wanted to avoid pain. So naturally I can express inner light easily. However, because I am grieving, I feel guilt around sharing inner light. I have it, just feel guilty when I share.

Oh, long story… I was in a new job as a visual practitioner—someone who makes large scale drawings of what’s happening in a meeting, great for strategic planning—and I wanted to improve my handwriting. I started taking calligraphy classes. It was a very long journey. Along the way, I translated what I was learning from master calligraphers (form), sign painters (form and speed) and graffiti artists (speed and creativity) and translated them into Neuland markers: professional tools for graphic facilitators. It got noticed by the company and I became an ambassador. But I never left the calligraphy world. I’m more of a creative calligrapher than a traditional one. I’ve studied formal calligraphy, but then make it my own for practical uses. I found you on Insight Timer during a transition time. I loved the way you guided us through the exercises. And I’m so glad you created this community! Thank you!
