Hey everyone
My name is Thomas and I own Wright Management Solutions L.L.C. We’re based out of Maryland. I’m still in the rental phase but I know eventually I’m going to have to buy a setup of my own. I’m torn between Deere and Cat I’ve heard great things about both, but not so much about the ugly. What’s the comparison between the Deere 333p and 335p and the Cat 275xe Lm 1 or 2 and the 285xe Lm 1 or 2. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Thomas, what have you been renting so far, and what has frustrated you most about it? That would help make the comparison more concrete. I would also be interested to hear the owners here compare local service turnaround when a machine is down; a spec sheet does not tell that part of the story.
Advice please! - Marketing blitz this saturday
Me and pops are renting a Bobcat T770 with Fecon head this saturday. We have 4 friends that we will be clearing brush for FREE (about an hour of work at each), in exchange for reviews, video interviews, and as much footage as we can get. We plan to shoot as many different video ad variations that we can get (me, my dad, different backgrounds, different apparel, different messages, etc) in order to stock up enough footage to last through the winter and be able to put up fresh ads. But we also intend to capture as much footage as possible for posting through the winter. PLEASE DUMP ALL THE IDEAS/ADVICE YOU HAVE FOR ME ON WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT WE SHOULD BE AIMING FOR. Here is the setup: -1 operator (my dad) -2 camera operators (me and my friend) -1 drone with 4k (can only fly for 20 minutes at a time) -1 hi-res Cannon camera w/ tripod -3 iPhones for shooting content The obvious ideas so far: -timelapse -before/after photos -post-job interviews with customer -drone before/after photos -drone footage of machine mulching -footage of loading/unloading the machine from the trailer -footage of pre-job site walk with customer -ad footage with machine working in the background WHAT AM I MISSING HERE? WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

Hey Justin, I spent 20 years as a general contractor in Denver, so the before-and-after part caught my eye. One thing I'd want the customer to explain on camera is what they can do with the property now that they couldn't do before. That gives the clearing a purpose beyond watching the machine work. How did the Saturday shoot go with you and your dad?

Glad the shoot produced footage you can actually use, Justin. Having someone whose only job is filming sounds like the lesson to carry into the next one. Now that the ad is bringing enquiries, which part is getting people to call: the machine working, the before-and-after, or hearing the property owner explain the difference?
Progress update from Elevated Land Solutions
Hey everyone. It's been a full week and a half, and we're doing it with a newborn in the house, so I'm pretty happy with how much got done. The biggest thing was filming. We shot our first batch of content, 15 clips, and I honestly couldn't have done it without my wife Kate. She held the camera, reset takes, and kept me on script on very little sleep. Watching the raw footage get turned into finished posts was a good feeling. It made the whole thing feel real. I also settled on a simple rule: whatever I film this month fills next month. That way, if a shoot gets bumped by a rough night with the baby, nothing falls apart. Everything still gets queued for me to approve in one weekly batch, so nothing posts under my name without my eyes on it. I also have to thank this group for the suggestion to get the base of a social media presence out there before the actual launch, when we start running paid ads. By the time the ads start, there will already be a real feed behind them. The website goes live in November too, so the two will launch together. The other decision was the CDL, I'll take an accelerated behind-the-wheel course in Texas in December while we're visiting my wife's family, then take the NH test. I also built out how we'll track every customer, from the first call through the finished job, following much of the advice of Austins trainings. Each customer gets their own folder, and call transcripts and site-visit notes get filed into it automatically, so nothing slips through.

Fifteen clips and a month's breathing room sounds like a solid start, Christopher. The customer folder caught my eye too. I spent 20 years as a general contractor, and keeping the site notes connected to the next conversation matters. How are you tracking the next action for each customer alongside those notes?
Starting out full time and would love advice!
Hey everybody! I'm Jordan and I own Pax Land Works here in Tulsa Oklahoma. I started doing this stuff on the side when I had a full time job but was recently let go and now am going hard at it full time. I don't own any equipment yet and am just renting but would absolutely love some advice on how to pursue this the right way and get to that $10-$20k a month range. I've been doing this stuff and operating for 11 years so I have that experience under my belt, just not a lot of business experience. I have some videos I'm going to be posting on all my socials and have some ads in the works but if anyone has been in my position and could throw me some advice, I would love it. Thank you. PS I'll post some pics in the comments of this because I don't have the pics on this computer.. lol.

Hey Jordan, good to meet you. I was a general contractor in Denver for 20 years and I'm in Spring Hill, Tennessee now. Eleven years operating gives you plenty of real work to show people. Did you get those first videos out, and have any local customers mentioned seeing them?

Hey everyone, I'm Glen. I moved to Spring Hill, Tennessee from Denver, Colorado. I was a general contractor there for 20 years, and before that I spent nine years in hazmat. These days I'm a high-ticket closer, and I run an agency helping small businesses get found online. I'm here to stay connected with people in the trades and learn how you're building your businesses. I'm coming from the contractor and sales side, so I don't have forestry-mulching revenue numbers to report. Good to meet you all. Who else is working around Tennessee or the Carolinas?
