Need a little insight, guidance, help... Please! Alexa - Your Impression
Hello everyone! I have a couple of questions. First, I'm glad to see this sort of content. Second, I've heard you, Alexa, single mom and still made it work... I'm solo supporting, disabled, no government assistance... so, bills and eating come first before this. Having that been said, the launch of my channel has been a year in the making with the last 6 months of dedication. I have a drive for this content. It seems to be addressed from a clinical point of view, vs, any real world experience talking. That's what I'm bringing to the table. Thank you for motivating me with direction towards getting my banner done and rewriting my about page. I'm happier with it. To the point now of my questions... I have a marketing background but technology and social marketing is my Achilles heal. Are you suggesting that cross platform marketing is necessary to make YouTube work? If so, how can I make money on these other platforms posting content I'm posting on YouTube? There's contradictory information about this topic on YouTube! My Second question... There seems to be conflicting information about posting short and long form content on the same channel in regards to YouTube's algorithm. Some say, do one or the other and then have a second channel for the opposite. Is this true? My idea, was to use the short form videos to drive attention and support to my long form video topic content. Basically, use short videos to advertise my channel content. You thoughts or impressions and experience in this regard? Please!

@Elena Jesssica You're welcome, and, I've put a new description to my channel. Still following the same m.o. but being more transparent. I have a young friend at church starting a band. I though a blues/fusion jazz type background music would be a nice touch for my content. I offered him only exposure and credit for the music since the channel is just beginning. I asked for a 15 minute recording that I could utilize. Unfortunately, the original members split up and he's having to find new peeps and practice before he's able to help me. Would something along this line of collaboration be of interest to you? If you want to read my channel description... PR Life... Your Positivity Reflection Connection is on the banner. Either way you decide, thank you for offering help and consideration.
Not sure I can continue this journey
I wasn't sure where to place this because I'm not sure if I'm looking for advice, feedback or an Okay to go ahead and let go of my channel. I have been struggling with grow, views, everything quite frankly with my channel since about May. I felt like I was finally on the turn around after many videos did well, at least well enough for me. I have been stuck in the under 100 views for months now. In October, I had a major surgery, took a break and worked on revamping my channel - creating a more stacked niche and was excited to get back to it. However, I am feeling frustrated and I don't know what to do at this point. This is 5 years on YouTube, and I didn't start to really pay attention, learning more about making videos until about 2 years ago. I finally reached 1K subscribers earlier in the summer, had a sponsored post in May and now I'm not sure what to do at this point. I also want to say I know that many have seen a huge decrease in views, etc. However, what really bothers me is I was only 5 hours away from being monetized, until it dropped off the hours and now back at almost 1K hours needed. I have enough videos filmed to finish out the year but I'm hoping anyone can offer some help, suggestions or advice. Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

I'm just getting started, but, thought to chime in with 2 cents. As James said, if this is your desire, don't cave in. Life will step in and interfere with passion, drive, and determination with upsets caused by health, money, and relationships. Taking time for yourself and heal was an absolute. If you're back, be back! If you're feeling led to a different calling, good fortune be with you! Having that said, I see so many nuggets Alexa is sharing that's not been said by anyone else. My personal challenge to share; it's taken me 3 weeks to get to day 8. Disabled with back issues and no regular means of income, I have to do Gig work to make ends meet as I'm also living alone. Day 8 has forced me to reassess my focus for my channel content design and it's taken a new direction. Maybe, your content direction lacks something, maybe continuity, balance, narrowed focus... or, and end result. Taking time to ensure your channel is more than just a fun hobby for you, is smart. If moving on because there's a door opening as a result of doing YouTube, then success! YouTube was a stepping-stone to something still on the horizon for you. Good Luck, I hope this helped!

@Joann Salas Sometimes we just need to hit the good Ole reset button. Take your time, don't rush it, and carefully evaluate. You got this!
Is anyone else getting a barrage of hate?
I'm so discouraged. I get 9 hateful comments out of every 10 each day, it's become exhausting. Here I am, creating content to help people, spending my time for free, spending my own money, not making a penny and people are just so utterly mean and nasty. I get called names on a regular basis and some things that I can't even say aloud. Is it just me? I know to block and hide user from channel and all of that but when you look at your comments and truly, I just counted, every single comment between today and yesterday except 1 was over-the-top hateful ---it really makes me feel like giving up.

@Kimberly Anne I'm new to YouTube but not new to Sales and Customer Service. Over the years I have found this to be true... You know you are on the right track when you strike cords with people. Also, human nature, people will be more apt to share negative feelings than positive feelings. You have a bad experience at a restaurant, you will tell everyone you come in content with... You have a great experience at a restaurant, you'll tell 2-3 of your closest friends and family. So, if you're getting 10-1 bad vs good comments... yeah! Keep going and remember the silent countless others viewing your content! Have a blessed day!
Not Giving Up, Redirecting!
Thanks to Alexa training day 8, and, something @Elena Jesssica said as we were messaging each other; I have taken the last 4 days to really harvest what was shared to me. And, it's made me refocus not just my Mission statement, but all future content. I love how this journey of learning about YouTube has evolved my own understanding about my presence here and the direction I've been led to provide content to help others in their lives. Thank you both! And, thank you to those that responded to my first questions. Alexa said in one of her videos, "This content is not meant to be bingeable." And day 8 showed my why; I forgot that when learning, even info you think you know, others may have a nugget, shortcut, idea, or link into something or some direction you haven't thought of. At first, I thought, okay, 30-day challenge, I'm game... but now, especially since I'm new here, I'm taking my time to really "Glean" what I can from each lesson.

Thank you @Elena Jesssica for that last messaging exchange. You said something that hit me harder than I expected and I've been mulling it over since. Yes, 4 full days of pondering; for me, it was earth shattering.
