@Caroline Claassen what’s the temp like where you are? It was 33 degrees yesterday for me and I had to run on the treadmill for the first time in almost a year! It was miserable lol
What's a running related purchase you regret?
As you know, we have our weekly Tuesday Gear thread where we discuss all anything running related we'd like to buy or try. Now I'm wondering the opposite: is there anything you bought or tried out that you DIDN'T like and/or even regret buying?

@Liza Shulyayeva have you tried wearing the belt around your waist instead of your hips? That’s what I do and it feels so much more comfortable, and doesn’t move at all.

@Caroline Claassen I don’t think I’ve ever gotten those despite wearing cotton socks and running in the rain/snow… guess I am lucky lol
Heat acclimation
What does this actually mean? Is it that you can run your normal paces and efforts when you’re acclimated? Or just that you don’t die while running? πŸ˜‚ We’ve really just started seeing heat and humidity here for the summer and everything I read about heat acclimation says you should be acclimated within 10-14 days. This is my 5th summer in hot and humid Tennessee and I don’t think I’ve ever felt acclimated. My easy pace, keeping HR low is always about 1-1.5 min/mile slower in the summer. Which makes me feel that I’m not making any progress - although I know I am! Thoughts?

From what I’ve read, heat acclimation moreso refers to the physiological changes that can make you more comfortable in the heat - more effective cooling because of a higher sweat rate, increased blood plasma volume, lowered heart rate, slower rising of core temperature. I’m not 100% sure if this means being able to run at your normal pace/effort, but I’m guessing that is the case! Or at least close to your normal pace/effort.

@Sarah Schwarz that reminds me, I’ve also read that heat acclimation disappears pretty quickly too, so if you go a few days without doing any runs in the heat, it disrupts the process of acclimation. Maybe that was your issue, if you weren’t running in the heat almost every day?
What's on your schedule this week?
What runs have you got on your schedule? πŸ‘Œ

@Sarah Schwarz same here, heatwave starting tomorrow. Even in the morning it’s gonna be high 20s! Idk when I’ll be able to run, I’m dreading it so bad

@Daisy Billetdeaux started my marathon block recently too, just last week! So excited for my runs to get longer and longer… but not so excited about the heat.

@Liza Shulyayeva yeah that’s true, personally I wouldn’t really care about filming myself if I’m running on roads, but I would use it on the trails! Bonus, it could even be good for safety bc people would think twice about messing with me if they see a drone following me πŸ˜‚

@Liza Shulyayeva do you find the slides actually help with recovery?
