ACL surgery questions šŸ˜ž
I Injured my knee while playing May ā€˜24. Hospital refused to scan me, and diagnosed MCL injury. I had physio and sports massage for 9 months, and then the physio cleared me to play again. I went back and played 3 games before my knee didn’t feel right again. Paid for a private MRI and was diagnosed with complex meniscus tears and a redundant ACL. I’ve been waiting for surgery since, was told I was on the list, had my preop done, and just needed to wait for a date, to then find out today that I’m not on any surgery list and now need another initial consultation. I’m so angry. It’s going to be months now before I receive an operation date, and then months after that for recovery. At my age, it looks like this may be the end of my playing. Has anyone had this surgery at an older age? If so, how did it go, what was recovery time and did you play again? Thanks in advance!!

@Ali Harvey @Ali Harvey I’m 45. My doctor accepted my scan, and I was referred to a surgeon who was going to operate on the NHS at a private hospital. The hospital refused to scan me and still claim their pathway is ā€˜adequate’. As I have had an anaphylactic episode (although no allergies when tested) they said they couldn’t risk operating at a private hospital and so I was transferred onto the surgeon’s NHS list. This was in July. I was told at the start of this week that the appointment I thought was my preop is actually an initial consultation, with another consultant almost 2 hours from home, and am not on any operating list. It’s just been one thing after another. The operation privately is almost 16k due to the damage. I’ve already looked into that. I do have a good physio, although there’s only so much they can do. I’m just trying to figure out if I’ll ever be able to play again.
Game cancellations....
Hi, How many games do you get called off due to the weather? Do you have alternative facilities like an all weather pitch? Does your team/club finish all their games in the league? šŸ¤”

The last 3 weeks have been called off for both my kids, and the last week for the ladies’ team. We do have Astro but it’s booked up well in advance, so very little chance of getting it at short notice.
PICKING THE CORRECT SHAPED GOALKEEPER GLOVE 🧤
As Christmas approaches, a lot of new goalkeepers — and especially parents — struggle to choose the right pair of goalkeeper gloves. In fact, most people get it wrong the first few times they buy. That’s usually because they pick gloves based on what their favourite professional keeper wears, how nice the gloves look, or simply because they seem like a good deal. But the most important factor is something completely different:you must choose a glove that matches the shape of your (or your child’s) hand. This is known as the glove cut, and getting it right is absolutely crucial. Below is a short article I’ve written that explains exactly how to select the correct glove shape for your keeper’s hand. It only takes about five minutes to read — and it’s well worth your time. Choosing the right glove will help you save money, improve comfort, and ultimately perform better. šŸ‘‰ https://j4ksports.com/pages/how-to-pick-correct-goalkeeper-glove

I have 3 pairs, my daughter has 5. Father Christmas is bringing her 2 new pairs, as some of hers are ready for the bin tbh. Current match gloves will then become training gloves. I prefer no finger saves, and wrist straps. My daughter has no finger saves and is currently undecided as to wrist straps or not. She’s giving both a try as her current gloves have removable ones.
