FRESHIE FACE-OFF: Niche Luxury vs. Designer Icon!
I pitted two of the most popular fresh aromatic fougères against each other: Parfums de Marly Percival and Montblanc Legend! One is the $400 niche powerhouse, the other is the $130 designer staple. They share a similar clean, refined, barbershop-style DNA, but which one does it better—and which one deserves a spot in your collection? The Question is Simple: Which one is your King of Fresh? Let me know your pick below, and then find out my winner (and why one of them feels like a luxury "dupe" of the other) in the full review here: PDM Percival vs Montblanc Legend: $400 "Clone" vs $130 Original!

This is a perfect example of the niche vs. designer debate! @Lon Chaneyfield, I totally side with you on the Percival quality—there's an undeniable smoothness and depth to that PDM blend that Legend just can't match. Getting it as a gift is the ultimate way to enjoy it! @Dave Anderson, your observation is so important: Montblanc Legend performs exceptionally well in the air, especially the EDP, and that's often what creates the best impression! Sometimes the practical, daily longevity and projection of a cheaper scent win over the high-end refinement of a niche one. Let us know your verdict after that Dillard's spray test! I'm betting the quality difference will be noticeable.

@Blake Merl That is a very insightful and accurate summary of how the fragrance journey evolves! I completely agree with your progression: as the nose matures, the shift from designer to niche often comes down to the noticeable difference in ingredient quality and complexity. While the price is usually the main differentiator, the quality of the blend is what truly justifies the move to niche. And that's a brilliant counter-comparison! Putting YSL Y EDP against Percival changes the whole game. The YSL offers a modern, high-quality, and versatile blue/fresh DNA that absolutely closes the gap with Percival much more than Legend does. I still choose Percival against YSL Y EDP. I received way more compliments with Percival. What is it about the YSL Y EDP specifically that you feel elevates it to be a true rival to Percival? Is it the apple note, the sage, or the better performance than Legend?

@Kyle C I am sorry but I can't stand Erica. Her video editing with multiple cuts on every phrase she says, and closing her eyes all the time are a turn off. She is pretty though. Do you know she was in a reality show dating a guy 40 years older? Marrying Millions.

@Stephen DeMent they do. Every Friday after 6pm PST they give you at least a 30% off (right now they still have their Black Friday discount of 38% off). I bought my first fragrance from their site at retail and then I learned about the weekend sales.
