I started a project months ago that was going so slow, I had just about given up on it. I needed to make a fairly small diameter tube, but the tube from the 22 was too large in a single layer and too small for if I folded the tube in half lengthwise. What I needed was a flat panel that I could fold in half lengthwise and then close the folded side against the other two single sides to make it double layers all around the length. I had never mastered the flat panel on my Addi 46, so I began crocheting it using Tunisian crochet. It needed to be 100% cotton which I had never managed to get to work on either of my Addi machines. When the Caydo arrived, I worked my way through the user manual and succeeded in making a flat panel the right width and length for my long tube. It has taken me a few days while finishing some things that had a deadline. Tonight with a bit of ingenuity and an extra pair of hands borrowed briefly from my hubby, the project is now complete. I thought I would give everyone a little update on what has been happening in my world lately, and share how I've been batch knitting to keep up with my craft shows! To say I'm exhausted would be an understatement! 😂 I've been doing craft shows 4–5 days a week, and thankfully, sales have been going really well! But there is another side to selling well — you have to keep making enough stock to replace what you've sold! And that has meant some pretty crazy days of 16+ hours of work. Here's what a typical day looks like for me: 🌅 4:00–4:30 AM: I'm up and sewing together the items I knitted the day before. 🛍️ 8:00 AM–3:00 PM: I'm at a craft show. When things are quiet, my Caydo is running, and I'm usually sewing loop scarves or loop shawls, desperately trying to keep enough stock on my table! 🚗 After the show: A little running around to take care of whatever needs doing. 🧶 Until around 7:00 PM: Back home, making more stock for the next day. 🪡 7:00–9:00 PM: Finally sitting down, but I'm still sewing and finishing projects until bedtime. Then I get up and do it all over again! I'm not going to pretend it's easy. It is absolutely exhausting. But financially, I've needed to do these shows, and I'm very thankful that people are buying what I'm making. The good news? After today, I only have FOUR more shows to go! 🎉 🧶 So, How Am I Making 8–10 Loop Scarves in About 6 Hours? The secret is batch knitting and making every minute count! Instead of making one complete scarf from start to finish, I've developed a system that lets me work on different parts of the scarves at the same time. Here's my process: 1. I get my Caydo knitting the long tube for the scarf. 2. While the Caydo is working, I'm using my 22-needle machine to make the smaller loop. 3. I can actually finish knitting and closing the ends of the smaller loop before the Caydo finishes the long tube! 4. I keep repeating that process until I have around 8 scarves knitted and ready for assembly. 5. Then I head upstairs to my comfy chair, where I close and cinch all the ends of the long tubes and sew the loops onto the scarves. 6. The next morning, before I leave for the show, or during the quiet time at the beginning of the show, I sew on the buttons and add the fringe. Sometimes I'm even sewing buttons on in the car on the way to the show! (Don't worry, I'm not the one driving! 😂) 7.

I caked a couple of skeins tonight and was so mad at my winder! The cake wasn't neatly wound and when I pulled from the center I got a bunch of yarn barf. So frustrating. Then I got an email from Caydo with a 15%off coupon... And the A1 Pro Max winder is already $20 off... Yeah, they saw me coming. LOL! I'm excited to get the new one and to either donate the old one or give it to my daughter. Until today it has worked fine and it's better than nothing!
