I 100% resonate with this. I have had my TEFL qualification for a while now but I have done nothing to start online teaching. My sister, @Nicolette Taljaard, has been holding me accountable for that, and I am thankful to have her push me. I am afraid of taking that step, believing all the inner lies and insecurities. Thoughts about being able to do it, having support at home to allow me to leave some of my other responsibilities to pursue a dream... Sometimes I wonder if moms are allowed to dream and have big aspirations without it negatively affecting their home life. Another thought that keeps me from taking that step is time... I have a job and a small business that takes up so much of my time, what will I have to sacrifice to have enough time in a day to get to it all... I fear that I would have to sacrifice the little time I get to spend with my kids... These are all barriers that I have been trying to mentally cross without any physical action.
Core task
- The advice that I would give myself is just to persevere and be patient. Nothing happens in a day. Making a success takes just as much patience as hard work. Giving up after the first barrier is not an option. Push through and keep going. - Ten years from now, what would that version of yourself be disappointed by?ย I would be disappointed if I did not do all that I could to make this journey a success. I would not be happy to see myself 10 years later running the same rat race, being exhausted, and ultimately allowing my time with my children to pass me by. - If I keep doing what I do today, I will have a lot less of what I want. - What I am currently doing does not represent my capabilities. You never know what you are capable of until you have pushed yourself to your limits. I fully believe that everyone is capable of anything, you just have to make the mind shift to steer you in the right direction.

My ideal self
My ideal future self would be financially secure and capable of affording everything that is needed for my children to be able to succeed. My eldest son has SI and I want to be able to grant him all the opportunities in the world by ensuring that he receives the help that he needs. I also want my future self to have extra time in the day to spend with my children, time that I can invest in them. So my goal for my future self is to build a business that can be successful and sustainable without taking too much of my time.

Hello community! I am thrilled to be a part of this learning journey. I'm Debbie, a South African primary school teacher. The students in my class are Zulu home language learners, but our language for teaching and learning is English. In the classroom, I encourage code-switching and embrace a play-based approach to learning. Despite not having ventured into online teaching yet, I'm eager to explore this new frontier. I'm uncertain about naming my business and defining my niche. By joining this course and community, I hope to gain the confidence needed to dive into the world of online teaching.
