Before they sing, I have them read the text out loud and understand what they're trying to communicate. Once the meaning is clear, the musical choices become much more natural. The same thing happens in business and community building. It's easy to focus on delivery before you're clear on the message. But when the purpose comes first, everything else has a stronger direction. In singing, the words shape the music. In community, the message shapes the connection. I'm curious.
