So I have also started reading Empty Your Backpack by Sam Demma. He’s a young Canadian from southwest Ontario. He also tours and talks to students, helping them with goal setting, helping them accomplish their dreams. I’ve also added about number of new books to my reading list. If anyone has some “must read “ suggestions, please let me know. (also if it might be available on Victoria Public Library system). Thanks.

@Reko Vitae many thanks Reko. I recognize that you have quoted often the Divine Illiad. I have added these suggestions to my list.
How We Hold the Flame of Support
You may have noticed that how me meet each man in the calls varies. Some we dig deeper, and others we simply meet them where they are. Our stance on Mens Work and coaching is that accountability isnt about "should". We dont want anything for you. We are commited to supporting you to create what you want by providing inquiry and feedback around whats missing, or whats in the way. If you want a higher flame, the way to do that is to put yourself in the space, post your updates, what youre noticing, and what you are stuck on. There is no pressure to want a higher gradient, only the opportunity to get more for yourself.

Thank you Reko. That was quite well explained. I'm just starting to get back into my Thrift project, so hopefully will be at a posting stage soon. Thanks for being available for all the guys. I also appreciate that sometimes we may not know where we are or what we want guidance with. I like your flame analogy. It reminds me of when making a campfire. Need to have all the materials handy and actually build the structure step by step.
My journey with nicotine
I'd like to make a post addressing something Manu called me into after last week's call when I revealed my struggle with vaping, which has intensified mostly unmitigated the past 5 years. It is something that has weighed particularly heavily on me this past year as I returned to coaching and started carving time out of my mornings for healthier routines. I would meditate and stretch in the morning, then sit and sip tea and vapour while mindlessly reading news articles or job notes for the coming day. I started leaving it at home to prevent abuse during the day, but that revealed how deep the attachment truly was, as I noticed its residence in my mind on the drive home. I would use abuse it mindlessly until bed, and suppress the voice telling me it was affecting my sleep - and instead focus on the other healthy things I was doing to balance the guilt. The group pushed me to identify what would become available for me by redesigning this relationship, and it was very difficult emotionally to finally reveal it into a space where it would be challenged. I think the only person who knew the reality was my partner and even then I was hiding it from her often to control an illusion. But I had faith in my new routines to support me, so I made a commitment to change it. I went the following week without using it once. I was shocked it wasn't more of a challenge. It was difficult, to be certain, but only a fraction as hard as I imagined. Last Sunday we had 35 people in our house, and there were smokers. I chose to consume again to sooth social stress, and I took note of how much more intense the craving got when I was surrounded by people. I said in the call I wanted my relationship with it to mirror that with alcohol. I enjoy it when I choose to, but don't need it every day and understand why I'm doing it when I am. Conscious consumption. A year ago I was inhaling 25+mg of nicotine a day. 6 months ago that was down to 15mg, after leaving it at home during the day. The average over the past 2 weeks would be 1mg/day. That's a 95% reduction since last year.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this story and adventure Dave. Congratulations on your progress and success so far. Being in self control (to choose when, where and how much), is definitely worth gratitude from both yourself and from those around you.
Tonights Project Call
Tonight we are continuing off of last weeks call and going to be introducing some structure for your projects. No matter where you are in your project, whether you're 5 years into it, or you don't think you even have a project to work on, we are going to provide some support and reources to help you get clear on how to get things moving, from step one to crossing the finish line! See you all there

Thanks Reko. I realized last week, that currently I have a task, not a project. However, I am thinking I might have a project at my volunteer work. I want to discuss it with a couple of the other volunteers on Wednesday, to find out if it's even feasible to be done.
Our Credo
This is a poem by Antonio Machado that we have used as our guiding credo since we first began our mens work offerings. "You say nothing is created new? Don't worry about it. With the mud of the earth, make a cup, from which your brother can drink."

Following this logic, when we obtain more mud, we can therefore make more cups, allowing all our brothers ( and sisters by extention) to savor the waters. Then what else can we make with the mud? Perhaps shelters to harbour all from the storm. Perhaps bowls for eating food.
