Group Support Call is happening in 10 days
celebrating vs rewarding
I have been reflecting on the discussion we had last night and have come to the conclusion that I am not actually good at celebrating my actions and accomplishments. I am good at rewarding myself. I tend to operate from a lens of I did A I get B. Although this may help by reward seeking, it often seems empty of the feeling of rejoicing that celebrating suggests. This all feels like progress, as I have historically relied heavily on negative self-talk to spur action. Reward is at least neutral to somewhat positive (depending on the reward), but there is still room for growth. What does it mean to celebrate? what feeling or thoughts does it conjure?
This Weeks Call
You will want to make sure you attend this call! So far we have been laying a foundation, introducing many concepts around coaching, projects, transformation etc. All leading towards what really creates the thing you WANT in life. We are not promising you will get it, we are inviting you to claim it for yourself. If you haven't made the last few calls, or if you have yet to attend one, don't beat yourself up. We are always inviting you back in. This week we are going to be creating the context for something new and supporting you to see further than we have gone so far. We look forward to a full group, all the familiar faces and hopefully some new ones. With love Manu and Reko
Holding a Vision
Sharing my latest IG post here: Ive worked with men for the past 10 years and the single most common reason men seek the help of others is: Lack of VISION Many men think having a vision will somehow transform their lives, give them purpose, give them clarity and relief from the confusion of their current existence. But the truth is that a vision requires the first steps be take into the total dark. When you read a book, you don't know what it will say, what answers it will give you, and what doors it will open. When you venture out into the world, you dont know what will come of it. The fact that life is full of the unknown is terrifying. But a vision doesn't change that. The vision you seek comes when you have spent long enough in the unknown and allowed the noise to settle. The vision becomes clear as you learn that it isn't going to solve anything. I see men spin their wheels for years, haunted by the idea they have of a perfect life. This impossible idea remains forever over the horizon. Life is not a destination that you one day arrive at. There is a reason vision quests are often done in the dark, fasting for days, alone. When the illusions of the senses quiet for long enough, then clarity is able to enter. Actions are often small, but if they are purposeful then they are also meaningful. Don't rush into action in order to distract from the unknown. Be with the unknown so you can know when, and how, to act.
Holding a Vision
What are you working on?
Something that arose for me over the weekend was a desire for consistency. In that spirit, I have harvested the following 3 prompts that I will be utilizing to set my project into motion: 1) What am I working on this week? 2) What action will I take? 3) What is holding me back? Join me in this inquiry.
