Quotes from MLK
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” I came across this today as everyone is posting MLK quotes on social today and it made me think…. What’s a favorite quote of yours from MLK?

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Always loved this quote but didn’t know it was from MLK until I was looking up his quotes today.
What’s something everyone interested in?
I was thinking of adding a specific category to our community conversations that most people might be interested in. I was thinking something everyday life, hobbies like stocks, investing, golf, sports etc….. Something we all can have a side bar convo if there’s interest!!! What’s some things that you all are highly interested or passionate about and find yourself talking about often? Share them in the comments!!

I never thought I’d say this but I do enjoy volleyball season. What’s the weekend looking like for everyone?

Looks like fun! Ours is winter open gym softball, taking down the remainder of our outside Christmas lights, organizing the garage, church tomorrow and running our daughter around to various other things she has going on. Also, Rachel and I got a couple good runs in. The weather here is crazy warm this winter and it’s been perfect running weather.
Showing Up Changes Everything
I had the chance to join Beyond the Finish Line recently, and the conversation lined up perfectly with what we’re building here in Mission’s Purpose — growth, ownership, and the courage to step into the next version of yourself. We talked about the endurance mindset I’m leaning into while training for my first 100‑mile ultramarathon. Not the highlight‑reel stuff, but the real work: confronting self‑imposed limits, committing before confidence shows up, and choosing presence over perfection. The same principles many of us learned in uniform… and the same ones we sometimes forget to apply to our own lives. What stood out most was this simple truth: showing up changes everything. Not because it guarantees success, but because it keeps you moving toward who you’re becoming. Whether you’re rebuilding, reinventing, or stepping into a new chapter, the reps of showing up matter more than feeling “ready.” If you’re training for something big, thinking about starting again, or just trying to live with more intention, this episode might give you the nudge you need. Your story isn’t finished — and you still get to shape it. If you listen, I’d love to hear what part hits home for you. https://open.spotify.com/episode/34KUVNCnMoqVQ6n89L9zPs?si=kPJwExxaQWKwZbHP4H8etw

Such a good conversation! Everyone should listen to this. I got a lot out of it but a few highlights that stood out: The nomad life and going to places that are viewed as “bad” places (mostly over exaggerated by media) and finding that most people are good people and if you get out there and just have conversations you will find a lot more commonality than you think. Made me think of my parents who watch too much news and have a negative view of the world instead of getting out of the house and interacting more. I’ve tried and continue to try and pass on the message that it really ain’t that bad! Music - @Jerrod Hardy when you talked about the music you listen to it made me think of how as we get older we listen to different things then we did when we were younger to inspire us and pump us up. I can relate. I now listen to a lot of christian and country music that relates to my life when I run whereas when I was younger It was ac/dc, Metallica, slipknot, etc. (there is still a time and place for that 😉). Also, listening to my daughters music coming from the bathroom right now- it is so cool to see her tastes changing from teeny bopper pop music to listening to some music with deeper lyrics (currently Luke Combs where the wild things are) 😊
Awesome podcast episode fellas
https://open.spotify.com/episode/7zy741aJeeYqtBxBdnCgNE?si=bGQRdZNHQeub-mix6c5zyQ when Garrett talked about letting people talk and not always trying to provide input, that really hit home for me. That is definitely one of my weaknesses and your words helped me understand it better. @Jerrod Hardy @Garrett Pastor Jerrod, did you almost shit your pants when Garrett revealed the person he’d like to have dinner with? 🤣
