Heat acclimation
What does this actually mean? Is it that you can run your normal paces and efforts when you’re acclimated? Or just that you don’t die while running? πŸ˜‚ We’ve really just started seeing heat and humidity here for the summer and everything I read about heat acclimation says you should be acclimated within 10-14 days. This is my 5th summer in hot and humid Tennessee and I don’t think I’ve ever felt acclimated. My easy pace, keeping HR low is always about 1-1.5 min/mile slower in the summer. Which makes me feel that I’m not making any progress - although I know I am! Thoughts?

@Fakaiha Zaheed losing the acclimation is my exact fear. I feel pretty well acclimated to running Arizona mornings and I am headed to cooler weather for 10 days and I just know when I come back it’s going to rough to get back to the heat 🫠

Started my marathon block today. Just trying to survive one hot run at a time. Knocked out my long run this morning πŸ™Œ.

@Fakaiha Zaheed that’s exactly how I feel starting my block too. Furthest I ran during maintenance block was a half marathon twice but ready for more. The heat just wants to make them all uncomfortable πŸ₯΄πŸ« πŸ˜‚

Flex: I typically run casually between training blocks and found I was having to build fitness during the beginning part of my block. I start my marathon block Monday and this year I made it a goal to run consistently in maintenance since January. For me to be at 504 miles to date is huge and proud of all the work I’ve done to start my block without the need to build from scratch and can focus on marathon specific endurance. Fail: neglecting post run stretching. I need to stop skipping it! 😜
