AI Changed My Life And Made Me A Better SEO πŸ’₯
I used to be an in-house SEO manager working with a well-resourced media team, a real budget, and serious effort going into content. It sucked because none of it was compounding. The portfolio was losing traffic despite everything we threw at it. New pages flatlined. Updates had no impact. And I couldn't figure out why. I was too buried in execution to think. Keyword research, content briefs, technical fixes, my job was feeding the machine. Every day. But then I started giving the repetitive stuff to AI. Not all at once. Just the pieces where it could speed things up. Within a few months I'd automated most of the repetitive work on my plate. I finally had space to actually think. I dove deep into the data. Ran analyses I'd never had time for. That's when I found it, something fundamental we'd been getting wrong. Our content was great. Our site architecture was broken. Everything we published was landing on a flawed foundation. I put together a theory and tested it on one of our smaller sites. Within two weeks, we saw significant ranking improvements on the tested money pages. We thought it was a fluke. We tested on three more sites. Same thing. Two weeks in, pages that got the treatment shot up. Pages that didn't stayed flat. It was real. We rolled it out to the entire portfolio. A few weeks later, we started seeing traffic and rankings shooting up. All because AI took the repetitive execution off my plate and gave me back the one thing that actually matters, time to think. We grew organic traffic from 160k to 1.7 million on one site. The peak hit after I'd already left. The system I built was still compounding on its own. It's been declining since. The system works, but only if someone's running it.

AI in tandem with automation, has definitely changed my life. Manual tasks we've struggled to execute efficiently and effectively for years have slowly but steadily been removed and/or replaced with easily repeatable systems and workflows. As @Jonathan Boshoff has said, in turn that frees you up to think more clearly and work on more important things. In our case, as we eliminated the manual processes, the framework for content optimization success became more clear. That led to more focus on how we can leverage the framework more than executing the tasks. All a work in progress, but our organic performance charts continue to do well even though the world believes SEO is DEAD! PS. The attached image is a perfect example. The site was a hobby site for years with a demoralising flatline performance that represented the effort that went into it. At the end of 2023, the site made a fundamental shift (changed it's domain name), we started applying our framework to it's content creation and it's never looked back).
Optimizing ecommerce/Shopify for AI searches
Does anyone have a good prompt or resource aimed at executing a technical SEO audit of ecommerce/Shopify sites? I have access to the DataForSEO 'on_page_content_parsing' endpoint and I know that will perform the desired scraping, so I'm more curious about: - What exactly I should ask an agent to do? Whilst I welcome any content recommendations, it's more the technical aspects of the site's product pages I want audited. - What output options make most sense? For example, a written report (e.g. Google Doc) versus structured data that could populate an Airtable base or Google Sheet? Additionally I'm curious if anyone is using any automated workflows to (e.g. Make/n8n) to improve ecommerce site performance and/or convert more buyers. Thanks in advance. I would love to hear about your own experiences of optimizing ecommerce/Shopify sites for AI searches and any words of wisdom you may have to share.

@Pol Latorre How are you answering my post? You still haven't said a single thing about my specific question. You've also assumed I'm having lots of problems and hassle when all I asked for was a prompt or resource. Why not take the opportunity to demo your expertise? Why not show me your product solving my problem? You clearly have a good product so why not show it off, instead of hoping "I'll get it" just by visiting your landing page. cc. @Jonathan Boshoff

@Ayesha Saddiqa thank you very much. I only see a sheet and not a document shared in your thread. Was there a document too? I also didn’t see anything specific to ecommerce? The sheet looked like a general SEO audit checklist. Not something focused on ecommerce nuances.
Merging Airtable bases?
Has anyone got some best practice tips for when you want to merge two independent Airtable bases together? I have two working 'prototype' bases and the time has now come to join them together. I'm very proficient with using Airtable but would welcome some ideas on the best way to do this.

@Sead Ali Thanks. I'm looking for something easier than that. I already know I can synch them if I have to. That's my plan B if a better plan A does not show up!

Does AI Generated Content Work For SEO & AI Search?
I ranked a DR 0 site for a 23k search volume keyword. I also landed AI overviews and ChatGPT mentions for the article. Watch this quick video for three examples of AI generated content working for SEO, AI overviews, and ChatGPT mentions. I show real GSC performance and live examples of their rankings. ~ It's fair to say that AI generated content definitely can and will perform if done well. If everyone uses AI to create their content (most already do) - then it's a game of whoever has the best AI wins.

Couldn’t agree more… β€œif everyone uses AI to create their content (most already do) - then it's a game of whoever has the best AI wins.” And to win that game involves having systems such as yours that are based on solid SEO/AEO foundations. Well done Jonathan.
