@Lee Witcher Hmmm you're right about the study being based only on people who are already active answer engine users (which is FAR from being representative), this paper I'm attaching is (older, buuuuut) much more careful about making totalizing or sensational claims but shows the same pattern. This one clearly discusses both the limitations and strengths of its finding, though, even with this rigor, the study still finds clear evidence that conversational AI can significantly influence consumers’ choices. Might be interesting to take a look at it!

YES to every other coment so far, a small thing I'd add is that fresh content beats content volume in AEO, most citations happen within 2-3 days of publishing. so it's not so much about having hundreds of old posts, but more about consistently answering real questions and building your entity profile over time / updating the dates of your old blog posts so they seem fresher. Even when you're not directly cited, that accumulated authority signals to AI that you own the topic.
