Good Weight lifting tips
So I’ve never been a gym rat by any stretch lol. So I don’t know a lot about how to lift weights well. Do any of you have any apps or anything that could help me succeed? I don’t have a ton of money to throw at it but I would like any info you might have.

So form prevents injury. Watch YouTube instructional videos and get your form right then slowly start increasing weight. I taught my son how to bench press and squat with just the bar, or light weight dumbbells. Going up 5lbs a week or two and before you know it you have a respectable amount of weight you are pushing. Also I am more of the belief that an exercise I can do for 8-10 reps serves me better if I work towards failure (lifting till I only have 1 or 2 more reps) is better for my fitness than going much heavier for just one rep. Also, I have never ever denied anyone a spot. I have helped both people starting out and people recovering from injury with a spot. As you gain more confidence, you will know when you will need a spot or not, but err on tje side of needing one when you start out
Tell Yourself a Better Story
Hey guys! @Brent Gilliam shared a post about doing deadlifts after years of telling himself he was "too old for deadlifts." It's an awesome post, and it made me think of how important it is to guard the stories we tell ourselves about our fitness, physique and what we can accomplish in the gym. I made a video about it that will be helpful to you: My Framework for accomplishing anything hard.

Ready to have the body I never had
Hi guys, I was a fat kid growing up and while I’m no longer obese, I never really got lower than 22% body fat and most of the time stayed around 25%. I’m a gym rat at heart but when building muscle would sort of balloon up in size like super Mario, but never really would get muscular. Same thing when I lost weight we just shrink, but never really got defined. I was on Tirzepatide and went all the way up to 7.5mg with saw only modest changes (5 lbs) nothing really that drastic so I just switched to retatrutide this last week and I’m hoping that the added receptor will really benefit me. I had surgery a few months ago and just getting back into weight lifting. Not lifting as heavy as I used to out of caution, but can now say at least that I’m lifting three times a week. Looking forward to learning from you guys

The thing with any GLP1 is you still have to physically change the things you are eating. Try to get a high percentage of protein in your diet and it will help you lean out. I shoot for 125-150 grams daily, which is harder than you think. Also resistance training causes it to build muscle. Some people swear by counting macros, but for me, it’s more protien forward and everything else falls in to place. Here is another fact, alcohol blocks fat metabolism to some degree. I have completely cut out alcohol from my diet and I have roughly fhe same body composition that I had in high school. But it’s more that taking a GLP1, it’s making dietary and changes once you do.
Monitoring progress
How do you monitor your progress outside of the mirror? I use a Renphro biometric scale and app. Any other ideas?

I've stayed fairley fit but had a lot of jobs that have not demanded my great fitness. Focused more on getting the email sent then the pt test maxed. Despite that I am not sure the pt test is the best way to test our general wellbeing. either way I am almost 200 lbs with a growing belly. I drink to much and need some motivation to get moving more. I'v ebeen doing BJJ on and off the past couple of years but really need to get stronger and shed the belly fat. I believe hte GLP1 as long as I really get into lifting, but concerned about TRT and heard that if you get on it then your body stops making it and you cannot get off.

Been on TRT for 13 years now. When I was 39, my testosterone was that of an 80 year old man. I had a low baseline, 350 in my 20s, and with crazy travel and stress with business travel ir had declined to 125ish . Basically nonexistent. Now I am stable around 600 and doing great. I have missed when I ran out. Only go on it if you need it, but if you do it can be a game changer.
