The community. Had no clue when I signed up that I’d be able to talk to Danny directly. The fact that you have to post and respond to people helps you get answers and different perspectives.

Building your business
For those of you now running your own player development business, what did your path look like? Did you gain experience working under a school, a team, or a training facility? Or did you jump straight into building your own client base? I’d love to hear what worked for you and any lessons from that journey.

@Quinton Hite what’s your biggest takeaway your process? I’ve gotten traction as an individual but wonder if I should try to find a training business to work with first

@Quinton Hite I have a basketball brand and I started advertising my player development training through there. So I wonder if it’ll be hard to be able to work under someone once I tell them that. I wanna stay true to myself, but also learn where I need to without sabotaging my own business and future plans.
Work during my college years.
I am entering my final year of college and need ideas for basketball work I can do during the semester? I have my training business and I work with another training guy as well who pays me 15hr per session. It’s money but it won’t support me during the school year. Any ideas of how I can still make money consistently during the semester with training or are there other routes??

Wouldn’t hurt to look into coaching a school in the area. Gets you in front of more potential clients and adds another element to your resume.
9 Lessons I've Learned as a Player Development Coach
1. Every player learns differently 2. The "Drills" you use aren't as important as the "why" behind each drill 3. Finding Solutions to Problems (as quick as possible) makes you a great coach 4. Having Defenders/rebounders make the workout 10x better 5. Coming in with a plan gives you confidence to command the workout 6. Focus on 1 thing at a time 7. Shooting is the most important skill in basketball 8. Live Defense > Cone drills 9. Nothing beats simply playing basketball What would you add?
